Subject: Poser morphing dollar bill or coins

Graphixa ( ) posted Mon, 09 July 2007 at 7:02 AM · edited Sun, 24 November 2024 at 12:46 AM

Hi all,

does anyone know of a morphing dollar bill or coins that is available as a freebie?  I'm sure I remember something like this, or some form of money prop that was around a few years ago.  I'm not after an exact dollar bill, I just want something that looks like money, and can ideally be morphed into to say a roll to hold in a characters hands.

Any help?

Koushka

Dr. Geep made one. I can't remember if he actually made one available or just posted the howto along with a texture map for it...

I wouldn't mind making you one but I don't have any dollar bills for the texture... (and for the correct aspect ratio. American money are odd, very narrow and long compared to proper money ;o) )

There's a stack of $100 bills in freestuff - search for "bills" and you'll find it. If you need a single bill only, that might at least be a reference for Trekkiegrrrl to work from. ;) The texture map doesn't include an entire bill, since there's a band around the stack. There's also a dollar coin - search for "dollar".

I'm working on a set of (non-morphing) currency
so far I have some australian and Russian notes made (the Russian notes include old Empire issues, soviet issues, etc)
Basically I'm scanning notes from my collection to use as textures

TrekkieGrrl, thanks for the offer of making a morphing bill, that would be cool.  Problem is I don't have access to any dollar bills to scan - I'm in the UK  :)  I don't have access to a scanner either.

It doesn't have to be a dollar bill, any currency would be ok.

Wheatpenny - would it be possible to get a scan of some currency from you, so that Trekkie could use it as a basis for a prop?

Thanks in advance guys, I never expected you to put yourselves to so much trouble.

Koushka.

There are good resolution images of currency at Wikipedia. I think found by searching for instance "United States fifty-dollar bill" then clicking the images... they lead to a 973x433 jpg in this case.

TG, I would love a copy if you make it. I like your newspaper but could you possibly make a lower poly version for laying a large area of floor. Something on the order of your poster prop?

Thanks Momodot - those dollar images would be perfect!.

Its down to Trekkie's expertise now  :)

I wish you had asked this 2 or 3 days ago!  I saw either a USA $10 or $100 but I don't remember where I saw it.  I was looking for something totally different and that was on one of the sites I had gone to.

Anyway, Turbosquid has some paper money in their free area.

It's listed at Mystic Nights as "One Dollar Bill (money)"  and  "$100 in $1 dollar bills"

EDIT:  I found it!!!!    It's "10 bucks"

Thanks Acadia, that last link is perfect!

With Trekkie's morphing bill as well, we will soon have enough money to buy out the poser universe MWAHAHAHAHA  :)

So you still need a morphing bill? Or does the ones you have alreadt suffice?

And how should it morph? Right now I'm in the middle of a pretty large render but something like a money bill shouldn't take long to do once the render is finished and posted :)

But again: How should it morph?

Momodot: The reason that the newspaper is so relatively high poly is because of the morphs. Especially the crumble morph. You just can't morph polygons that aren't there.

But the poster could easily have a newspaper texture slapped on it (that's part of what it was meant for, from someone (forgot who, unfortunately) who wanted to cover a floor in paper.

Thanks TG I'll try the poster!  The newspaper mesh does makes sense as you say for morphs, I was having trouble getting a drop cloth for the floor using Cloth Room until I abandoned the hires square for your morphing crumpling tissue which had much beter vertice arangement for a crumply look. For the newspaper I just need flat on floor with enough bend/fold to let it read as a newspaper so I'll try the poster.

Trekkie,

yes I'd still like a morphing dollar bill if the offer is still open.  I'd like a morph that would roll or crumple the dollar bill in the middle, as if someone was grasping in in their fist, so each end of the bill appeared above and below their closed fist.  Does that make sense?

Let me know if you need a more detailed description.

Again thanks for the offer!

Koushka

Yes I know what you mean. Not sure I have time to do it today (work day unfortunately) but if I'm still up to it when I get home tonight, I'll do it. It's nothing difficult, I just need about an hour with no disturbances L

A morphing bill would be great; but an hour with no disturbances would be priceless. Kids: "Dad? The Internet's broken again." Me: "Really?" yawn
