Subject: How do you ride a bike in Poser

Are there any .BVH files around that can do it. DO you know of any examples I could go to. Or where to get a bike?

For the bike check Jim Burtons bike at DAZ its a classic road bike (Very nice one too)  complete with Campag gear and i think (memory is not as good as it was) it has a thing where you can conform your figure to the bike so when you turn the crank the figure legs move with it.........Steve

The bike is easy: go to the ever reliable [Laboratory 108](http://lab108.x0.com/lab108/vehicle.html). There may be some BVH bicycle motions around somewhere, (I don't know of any offhand) but getting them to match up to a given bike model would be unlikely.

I'm unsure the leg motions would work properly, but the basic Poser solution is to turn on Inverse Kinematics for the legs, and then parent the feet to the pedals. Most of the work is in the last little bit of getting things right, but I think theis would reach the level of a good toon, especially for a medium-close shot. Think rollers and green-screen, or an earlier generation's use of back projection: do you need to show the whole thing?

"do you need to show the whole thing?"

yeah I do. Although it would kinda be from a distance. so I think a few inconsistencies would be ok.

thanks

*"...turn on Inverse Kinematics for the legs, and then parent the feet to the pedals".

That almost works... but if you simply parent the feet directly to the rotating pedals, the feet rotate around the ankles.  You need to parent a dummy prop in-between to counteract the rotation of the pedals.  I've got a more detailed explanation with an animated gif over at 3dcommune.

Cool. Wheres the location of the gif?
