Subject: Cloths explode, or just break up

Okay, after over four years of owning Poser, i finally decided to make my own cloths.  I am using Lightwave 8 ( by creating a set of points at the bottom of the figure, and then use extender plus to sort of drape the cloths around the figure  I use weld when bringing together two sets of objects which does work) to make the models, and I follow the figure steps as prescribed in the Poser manual.  My problem starts when I try to model the cloths.  They all work as figures, but parts of them (specifically were the polygons come together) are sheering apart.  This happens both before and after I try to clofify the item.  Could definitely use any suggestions because I'm running out of ideas.

Thanks!

Apparently the edge vertices aren't welded according to Poser. You can fix that by exporting the prop as .OBJ, check "Weld vertices", reimport with "Weld vertices" too.

Of course, the falloff zones need to be correctly placed to keep the polygons from coming apart, whether they're wielded or not. This shouldn't be a problem for clothes designed for pre-existing characters, provided that the parts are properly named and the rig is solid.

Quote - They all work as figures, but parts of them (specifically were the polygons come together) are sheering apart.

Are you referring to the joint areas where the various body parts meet?
Did you name the various parts in Lightwave the same as the names of the bones being used in Poser for each part? (hip, abdomen, chest, rCollar, lCollar etc.)
Are all the parts grouped to the respective bone properly?
Forgive me for being so inquisitive, but there are a number of factors that can be causing the problems.
One thing you can try, (if all of the above is in order) and the clothes are still breaking apart, is open the cr2 file in a text editor and make sure all the "weld" statements are in order.
They look something like this...

weld abdomen:1
hip:1

weld lThigh:1
hip:1

weld rThigh:1
hip:1

There should be a weld statement for each body part that connects to any other.

Following this series of weld statements should be a statement that reads...

allowsBending 1

if this statement reads - "allowsBending 0" you need to change the 0 to 1 and it should stop the seperating of the parts. (provided everything else is in order)

Wish you luck with it..
