Subject: New Machine New problem

Trepz ( ) posted Sat, 14 July 2007 at 1:14 AM · edited Fri, 17 November 2023 at 8:44 PM

I have finally made the effort and got a moderately high end machine, and now I have Vue crash on startup.Strange thing is that it only happens when I run it the first time on any given day,the rest of the day is fine. my specs are as follows:

Intel Core2 Duo@2.13Ghz

Nvidia 8800 GTS with 640M RAM

2G DDS RAM

I am thinking it is the Nvidia Drivers as some of my games are buggy as well, but wouldnt know how to fix this issue.I also run Cinema 4D 10 and Poser 7 with no issues, and didnt have the problem on my dinosaur PC.

If you think it may be the drivers, the easiest solution is to visit the Nvidia web site and download and install the latest driver for your card.

One thing you haven't mentioned is which OS you're using, if it's Vista then there are other threads detailing probs with it and how to sort it, you'd need to search for it though!!

Are you on Vista? And if so, are you running Vue in administrator mode? This could (Could) make a difference. Regarding the graphic card I would go to the site of Nvidia and check wether there is a new driver available for your card (and operating system). And update if so.

One other thing you can try out is to switch off OpenGL in the Vue preferences to see wether THIS makes a difference. Just to be a little more sure wether it is a graphic card issue or not.

Ok,I just went to check for update, there is one.Vue tried and told me to close my firewall, and then download again,I did so and then it told me I was up to date. Blasted machinery! I will go get it manually then.

Right now NVidia is having a lot of trouble with the 8800 series of video cards, so you may have to try several versions of the drivers to see which will work with Vue.  Do not forget to uninstall each version before you install a new one.

The other possibility is that you uncheck, Test my Video Card in Vue Preferences.

The only setting in XP would be to check Disable Visual Themes in Compatibility Mode.

I have been looking for older 9x.xx series drivers as I k now those to be stable from using them for my 6600 card.I dont use themes,XP has a hard enough time as it is:D They gave me a copy of Vista with my new machine, glad I decided to wait or I think I would be up to my ass in problems, other than what I have now.I did however try software mode in Vue and it slowed to a crawl.I forgot to mention I am using V6xstream.Latest build now.

Oh! Ouch!  I am told that xStream users are having more trouble than those with Inf.  Sorry that is not encouranging.

You might try the Beta Drivers for XP 32 bit
