Subject: Unable To Upload

BibbyBear ( ) posted Mon, 16 July 2007 at 3:32 PM · edited Wed, 20 November 2024 at 1:22 AM

I was in the process of uploading a photo and had hit the "preview image" option, as I always do, when I lost my internet connection.

It took quite a few minutes to get it reconnected by which time I'd lost the page.  I tried hitting the back button and refresh, but it was gone....... never mind, I'll upload it again I thought... sigh!!

Unfortunately it now says that I have reached my limit for the day as it thinks I've already uploaded the image - but it's not there in my gallery!!

What can I do??

Can anybody help?

Many thanks.

I was wondering where your image was for today?  That's such a shame!  I hope they can do something for you.

No, I can't backspace or do anything now as I've since logged off R'osity and rebooted my PC (I kept losing internet connection and it was really beginning to p**s me off!!)

I have IM'd Danny with this query, but not sure how long it will take for an answer or resolution - I'm gonna be really miffed if I have to wait until tomorrow now before I can upload - I went 15 days without as it was, I am in withdrawal and need to feed my habit!!!

Never mind, this will teach me in future to upload my image before trying to leave all my comments on everyone else's uploads for the day.

Thanks anyway you guys.

Hugs

OK - I just looked at FAQ and I have to say that I'm more than a little p**sed off now

**QUOTE: "If you upload an image by hitting “preview” and then don’t finish by hitting “save” or “abort”, that image just kinda floats out there taking up server space. So, that counts toward your one per day. Abandoned pending images get purged every night at 2 a.m. system time."
**There must be some way this can be over-ridden if requested??

2am system time is nearly ten hours from now which for me is tomorrow morning anyway, which means I've missed my quota for today - really annoying and highly frustrating!!

OK, not a lot you can do probably, but somtimes this happens through no fault of the member - I personally have had this happen before just because the site was running so slowly, it timed out and was unable to view the page successfully.  By the time I could view it, it was too late as it hadn't saved and hitting the back button just got me to one of those unable to view type internet explorer pages - that was definitely a system fault and nothing to do with me or my connection - would it be fair to make us wait such a long time for our image to be purged?

Vent over - off to watch TV instead.........

Sorry, there really is not fix for this as yet. Take what little solace you can in that you are not the only one this has happened to -- I had it happen a couple of times myself. My advice is never use the preview. If you need to make changes, use the EDIT link under your image once it is live. Chances are any changes you make will happen before someone views your photo. Frustrating, but at least you still have your health, right? ;']

There is one thing if you want that I have done before, edit another of you uploads and change the image to a new one this has worked for me before.  I have managed to up load 6 images in one day by doing this.  It's a little loop hole in the system.  Lets hope it has not been closed.

Thanks for that David, but I don't want to remove any of my other images in the gallery - they are there as a constant reminder to me of where I have come from and hopefully where I am going to in photography.

Kort - I wish I could say I had my health, but after suffering extreme sunburn, sunstroke, a nasty fall, a cold and bronchitis while on holiday - I am still suffering with many of the after-effects from the fall (bruises and aches) and have had to visit my doctor this evening for a second bout of antibiotics for the bronchitis - so no, a pretty c**p time for me at the moment and R'osity was my only solace from the woes of everyday life!!

Not your fault - a glitch I think that perhaps after the site revamp, the programmers can look in to otherwise, why even have a preview button if it is flawed??

Thanks guys - I guess I'll see you tomorrow if time permits (it's my son's birthday though!)

Ah, clever idea - but how would anyone see it without actually going to my gallery??  Hey, I may be good (LOL... I wish!) but I can't imagine I have many people just browsing my gallery so if it was only an edit, it wouldn't show in the new uploads section of the photography gallery nor would anyone receive email notification that I had uploaded a new image??

So really, I'd just be doing that for me to see it - I can do that in my folder on my desktop!

Unless I am totally getting this all wrong here and any edits made to an exisiting image do show up in the new uploads section??

LOL!!!  OK, I have an overdraft from my holiday that needs paying off...... I feel awful and want to feel great for my son's birthday, my job sucks (sometimes!!) - can you sort these few things out for me too???  ROFL!!

I don't want to post it in here 'cos it won't get the comments as it would in the gallery and I still NEED the comments to come pouring in with critiques etc. to learn from - it's not that good a pic anyway, so it can wait until tomorrow I suppose - I'll try and do it before I go to work, but I'll need to get it uploaded in about three minutes I think as I leave for work shortly after 8am (2am Rendo time!!)

Can I go and sulk and feel sorry for myself now - I'm a woman and it's what I do best???  Will someone feel sorry for me please - I feel really unwell and could do with some sympathy right now hee hee!!

Hugs
