Dunno if this is the right forum for this, but I wanted to share my oh-so-humble opinions with lotsa Poser people and this is the place! I've happily paid the asking price for far too many Poser toys since the addiction took hold, and never have I felt I didn't get good value for my dollars. I've been pondering getting into collecting the various CDs out there, now, and lo! Poser World, one of the "must visit often" sites on my early exploration bookmark list, went members-only! Before grumbling, I realized I was going to buy their CD collection anyway, and the cost of an intro membership was less! Guess what I got for my money? Yep, the contents of all three CDs, plus everything they've released since then. May the bandwidth gods forgive me for the downloading orgy that ensued! Steve and Rena's stuff is easily as good as anything I've seen, and the new stuff just keeps on coming! I'm not getting paid to spew all this, honest! I just noticed the forum there seems too quiet for such a class act and figured maybe some bushes needed beating to get folks to check them out. Hope to see you over there! Cheers! Mark

Couldn't agree more. Great stuff so far with the roman outfit and now the Egyptian stuff! My only complaint is that I wish he would put some of the old stuff back up! =) Or better yet... convert it to Michael! =) Like the wizard robe, the prince outfit and the poet outfits! Good stuff!

melanie ( ) posted Wed, 23 May 2001 at 8:55 AM

Ah, yes, I lost the poet outfit when I switched to a new computer and I can't get it back. sob I was hoping to find that one back up. Steve, are you listening.....? Melanie

ookami ( ) posted Wed, 23 May 2001 at 8:58 AM

Steve is always listening! Hehe...

Schlabber ( ) posted Wed, 23 May 2001 at 9:55 AM

Well, Mel if he isn't I'll tell him tonight via ICQ :o)

Doom Dancer ( ) posted Wed, 23 May 2001 at 11:48 AM

Schlabber...could you put in a phrase for me? More Egyptian stuff!!! It just rocks. And, if he wants some textures for some of the CD stuff...I have some.

I'm sure it's very nice, for those wanting to pay subscriptions rates. Free items should be free, or have an online store, like here.

steveshanks ( ) posted Wed, 23 May 2001 at 12:42 PM

Thanks everyone we really appreciate all the support you've all given us with the site change, I'll get the Poets outfits back up in the free section soon and also do some Mike and dork outfits on the same theme I think we can do better versions of those outfits now :o)......lots more Egypt stuff to come, we have his Queen and a few slaves then somewhere for them to pose in :o), the romans have a fair few more bits and bobs to come too :o).....Laverson I'm not sure what you mean but the items in PWFW aren't free they are Royalty free models you buy via a subscription rather than per item, look at it another way if you see anything you like in the subs preview pages you can buy them for $35 and have everything else for free :o)......Steve

Then there's the saying that you can't please all of the people all of the time...

hmatienzo ( ) posted Wed, 23 May 2001 at 1:19 PM

For less than the price of one Daz model, or even one model from the Rosity Store, you could get all of Pwfw's great stuff! It's more than a good bargain, alright!!!! The site is a lifesaver especially if you don't continually want to render nekkid boobs only, but do some fantasy settings, mythology, history... And then there is nothing like having Jane Fonda on your computer!!!

L'ultima fòrza è nella morte.

I disagree with lalverson - I really like the concept of the subscription - because for a flat fee I am provided with great models and textures for an entire year. Sure it's nice to have free stuff, some of which is very nice, but the stuff at PW is great and well worth the subscription. Just because they're trying a new model for selling their products shouldn't bring criticism.

nikitacreed ( ) posted Wed, 23 May 2001 at 2:13 PM

Good grief...considering the "volume of" and "quality of" Steve and Rena's stuff...the price of subscription is highway robbery, they are committing against themselves for setting it so low. I know I am anxiously awaiting the day my budget loosens again and I can order my subscription....I'm going to go nuts downloading. LOL! So, in conclusion...even though I haven't gotten my subscription yet...I already know...POSERWORLD ROCKS!! So there.

corblet ( ) posted Wed, 23 May 2001 at 2:19 PM

Let me hear an aaaaaay-MEN! I just went and peeked at my purchase list here alone. StrongBlade and two clothing morph kits for Vickie cost more than an entire year's membership at PW. Forget what it cost to get the Millenium Duo, V2, and the Dragon. That would have gotten me in for longer than I'll be alive! And I've practically constructed an entire virtual suburban house -- including furnishings and a car in the garage -- mostly from stuff I found there. Hell, the new Coliseum alone would have cost more than a trial 3-month membership if you bought it outright. Did I mention I was already planning to buy their 3-CD set, and joined up instead -- for less $$ than I would have spent -- and got everything that was on them as only one part of the offerings? Hmm. 1. This amount of money, 3 CDs of great stuff. 2. Less money, same stuff plus lots more (and growing). I can do the math for this one on my fingers, ayup! :-) Cheers! Mark

FanDancer ( ) posted Wed, 23 May 2001 at 6:22 PM

I have the money for my subscription and want soooo badly to join up..but I dont have a credit card...does anyone know how i can get my subscription without a credit card? please please please?:)

Mesh_Magick ( ) posted Wed, 23 May 2001 at 7:07 PM

Would be nice if they had a bot to send your password after craditcard varification of purchase.

nitreug ( ) posted Wed, 23 May 2001 at 7:10 PM

I do not think that you have 3 CDs like the one you can buy at their site. It contains some of the files that are on CD 1,2 and 3. The Cds contains more models and textures and so on. Steve: Correct me if I am wrong. I get one of two of those CDs. Claude

melanie ( ) posted Wed, 23 May 2001 at 8:13 PM

Thanks, Steve, you're terrific!!!!! I anxiously await anything for Mike. Keep up the great work. I also await more Egyptian stuff. All I can get my mouse on. Melanie

Questor ( ) posted Wed, 23 May 2001 at 8:39 PM

nitreug: No, not all of the cd content is uploaded to the site. I have the first two cds and there is quite a bit missing. However, of those items they were all originally free stuff and will be rotated through the free stuff section that Steve and Rena are maintaining. Same with Rena's models, textures and characters, they will be rotated over time. If you have something in particular that you'd like just ask Steve and I'm sure he'll either make it available or send it to you. SeaRose: If you visit http://www.poserworld.com and have a look through the page there you'll find a link for a post application where you can send in a money order. As soon as they get the money order they'll mail you and activate your account. You don't need a credit card to join. :) As for my own thoughts on paying to get at Poserworld stuff: I have no problem with it at all. All the new clothing that Steve created exclusively for the cds is available, the textures that Rena created for those items, a lot of props and other stuff is hanging around so even though several hundred megabytes of stuff isn't there, it is available, and there is a massive choice up there now. I was well pleased at what I found there since paying my subscription and with the request forum there's just about anything that's possible. Steve and Rena have earned a little bit for everything they've done in the past and this whole subscription thing is intended generally to pay for the site and a new T1 line. The current flood of Roman and Egyptian stuff is nice, Rena's textures are pure works of art and those files alone are more than worth the subscription. For 50 bucks, less than the cost of vickie and some of the "characters" in online stores you get 3cds of new content, 12 months of NEW Poserworld clothing Fairywoods textures and custom clothing made for you when Steve has the time a friendly forum, fast download speeds, support on items and a nice atmosphere. If that's not value for money then I'm a monkey's armpit. Impressed? You betcha. :)

Lorraine ( ) posted Wed, 23 May 2001 at 8:43 PM

OH boy! I waited impatiently for my subscription payment to clear the cyberworld, but now I have logged in and it is really great! I agree well worth the price, and I thought and thought about it too...but there is some really nice stuff and I am anxious to get going.

FanDancer ( ) posted Wed, 23 May 2001 at 11:59 PM

Thank you sooo much for the info Questar..I have loved popserworlds stuff for along time and am anxiously waiting to get my money off to them:)

Krel ( ) posted Thu, 24 May 2001 at 5:59 AM

Well, here's my two-cents worth.......I bought Steve's first clothing CD and to this day it still contains some of the highest quality and most usable pieces I have.....AND Steve has been so generous as to custom model some things for me, if anyone has downloaded the Holli Would character it contains a suit made by Steve.......The membership is a great deal!!! Steve is truly a talented artist and makes some of the best clothing and outfits available for Poser! And his sight had recent mention in the monthly magazine Audio/Visual Multimedia producer in an article on Poser!! Krel
