Subject: Ludicrous prop request!

SamTherapy ( ) posted Thu, 19 July 2007 at 3:24 PM · edited Sun, 26 January 2025 at 2:53 PM

I'm always looking for daft stuff.  TrekkieGrrrl ver generously made me some onions a while ago, then, some time after, I was looking for a bear trap, which I found at DAZ. Odeath of Life kindly made me an Anglepoise Lamp.

Now, I need a plate of ravioli.  Honest, I really do.  It would be great if the ravioli was in individual bits so I can scatter it around..  No doubt I can always add some kind of sauce in postwork.

Some fried eggs would be great, too.  Preferably morphable, so they will stretch.

I'm really not kidding about these, I really need 'em.

TIA

Actually, the eggs don't really have to be morphable.  I can always use magnets on the little buggers.

Although, now I come to think of it, conforming fried eggs would be excellent.

Yes, I have taken my meds today, thank you. :)

What were you thinking they'd conform to?

Geralday's got a "broken egg" which you can make the shell transparent on, make the white a little less translucent and I would have thought that would serve?

The lightwave content CD includes a fried egg, and I think there's one in the Epic model collection (but I'm not sure)

Well, I'd like them to conform to the top of someone's head.  But that's just for joke purposes.  I'll check out Gerald's site, though.

I can always model a plate of ravioli, it would be kind of fun... but the BIG question is how soon do you need them? Things are pretty behind on my end right now. How detailed do they need to be?

There's a free .max one at the 'squid. If you can get an eval copy of Max, you could import and export it as an .obj?

Aren't they like little double sided rectangles with a puffed up middle and little indentations all around the perimeter??

Conniekat - Many thanks.  I'm not in a particular hurry.  Any time in the next 15 seconds would be great.  But seriously, whenever they are ready is just dandy.

Karen - I'll pass on the Max thing, but thank you anyhow.

RAMWolff - Yep, you got it right.

Sam.. why not try your hand loading in a square prop, and using the morph tool to make a raviloi?

I thought a ludercrous request was for the fully rigged cashew I did over at rawart last year for someone.. LOL!

Way too many people take way too many things way too seriously.

Paul, you scare me sometimes,  LOL

It's not ravioli, but it's food:

Great idea Garee.  Shame they don't have the morph tool in P6.  Guess I could try a magnet, though.

By the way, before you all get worried, the eggs and the ravioli are for two different pics.  See, I haven't lost my mind.

Do you have a square, flat-ish pillow prop somewhere you could scale down and stick a displacement map on for the raviolis?

Or how about texturing a morphable pillow? I know there are some of those around.

Not as ravioli but it's a good basis for a fried egg.

dinner is served

sausage, egg and beans!!

though the egg does appear to have a beak and legs growing out of its yolk, but to make up for that there is a special guest appearance by the original Grange Hill sausage..........at least i think it is a sausage!!!

and we were out of ravioli.

that 3DS egg is awesome, excellent model!!!

Evening all. I've got the the demo of 3DS Max 9 on my system at the moment, so I've converted the Turbosquid ravioli to OBJ. The materials are coloured but untextured.

A warning; it's big (80K polys) and the UV mapping is strange. If you want it, though... feel free.

Not that she can't stand catnip. She probably doesn't have the "catnip gene".  I was amazed to find out that their reaction to catnip is wholey dependant on them having a specific gene. WIthout it, a cat has no reaction to catnip at all.  I also learned that a cat born in Asia will rarely react to Catnip.
