Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 22 9:27 pm)
Best asking in the Copyright Forum.
Not trying to be unhelpful but the people there can either help you or point you in the right directon.
BTW, good luck with the film.
Coppula eam se non posit acceptera jocularum.
CONGRATZ PEACER!!!! That's awesome!!! Good for you!! I love SH No Escape!!! And of course was totally pleased that you used a model or two of mine in your movie that so captured the feel of one of my fave video game series!!
As far as copyright stuff... the end product that you produce has little bearing in it's distribution when on the level of still or moving pictures (moviez) so the idea of redistributing elements used shouldn't even come up! That's my layman two cents... I imagine someone will shoot down my thoughts on this anyway!!
ANYHOW... WAY TO GO!!!! You worked so hard on No Escape and you deserve the recognition from this!!
Take care!!

It's hard to know without reading all of the readme's of the items that you used in your creation.
From reading a few, It 'seems' like a lot of purchased products can be used for commercial purposes. It's the freebie items that are often released for non-commercial purposes only.
When you get into something more serious, like film and television, then you end up having to check copyrights item by item...
Congratulations on your success! It's wonderful to hear.

Thanks!! Hey Ghelm, long time no see! You created the exterior of Brookhaven for me (and I believe a hallway as well)... glad to see you're still around! I'm going to try to squeak by since I have so many random freebies and lost most of the readme files... most, if not all, are modified quite a bit, so I couldn't imagine there being much of a problem (not to mention there is no profit being made).
Thanks again for the help and comments!

Hey guys,Sorry if this is always an issue, but I'm in a huge rush so I don't have the time to search the forums :-(
Long story short, I created a CG movie using Poser several years ago. The 3D elements consisted of models I either purchased or downloaded for free (a lot of DAZ and Renderosity stuff)... and the majority of those were modified (textures, morphs, etc.). Now, all that work has finally paid off as a UK television program wants to air my little film. I do mention Renderosity and DAZ in the credits (as well as various other sites), but I do not have direct permission from ALLLLL the owners of those products. I was under the impression that as long as I don't redistribute those products and make profit off them, then it would be okay. Am I correct? Again, no profit is being made off this film... it's just being aired on TV, and TV has a very strict copyright guideline.
Thanks!
I included the website to my fanfilm for those interested (and yes, the television program is in the process of obtaining rights from Konami).
