Subject: How to make a "dwarf" character without messing up clothes etc?

silverblade33 ( ) posted Fri, 20 July 2007 at 3:39 PM · edited Tue, 29 October 2024 at 3:51 PM

Poser 6. Had poser for years but only for creating folk to render in Bryce/vue.

Dumb question:
I'm making a dwarf fantasy character using Mike3 and clothes. But how do you get around the problems of resizing?
-I've scaled him down to 83% in vertical axis for height/stockiness. But while some clothes are ok after re-scaling too, I can't get the Millenium Beard to fit him now, sigh. Anyone able to help, please? :)

silverblade33 - Is the beard a prop? If it is, you must be able to scale this as well, no?

Re-scale by using Figure/Body, and then the main scale dial not the xyz dials, it just messes up as you found out!!

Do the same with the clothes using "body" and main scale dial!

The beard is a figure, actually :)

thefixer,
hm, wanted to merely scale him down vertically, to achieve the "chunky" look of a dwarf. Guess I'll do as you say and beef up Muscularity.
thank you mate :)

seems that considering some of the dwarf beards I've seen, just go with shrinking it on x and z..;)

Pakled,
tried that but the Millenium beard wouldn't fit right, alas, and I wanted a shorter beard for him, not the "Anton's Posable beard" which is quite long.
Pity, he looked far more dwarf-like shrunk in one axis, than just scaled down :(

The RPG series Dwarf stuff is great and well as the female Dwarf stuff from JonMalis.  The male Dwarf from the RPG series uses the Freak as a base instead of M3.  The female Dwraf use V3 as a base.

The beard fits well and is a morph of the RPG Series 1.

I have had good luck using the MFD on the female Dwarf as well as the Fantasy Armor for the Freak and it many textures for the Dwarf male.

I would be interested in seeing your M3 Dwarf as there is much more available for M3 than the Freak.

Nice character concept.  Nice character image.

Not quite what I want in a Dwarf.  Then again I wish D&D ver 3 and 3.5 never came along at all.  Guess I am just an old AD&D guy stuck in my ways.

It's worth remembering that the scale/morph method is compatible with Wardrobe Wizard, though you might have to use a two-stage conversion, applying the The RPG-scale pose after converting to an unscaled version of the figure. I don't think I have a copy of the Millenium Beard, but it might be convertible too, either as a clothing item or as a hair prop. Though there are some extra stages to go through if you have extra body parts, in much the same way as long skirts. You can try this stuff out with the Demo version, which works with the P5 figures. Just do a rescale of one of them.

shadowbear,
bah, 2nd ed sucked, after playing 3rd ed, and as much as I loved 2nd ed at the time...I see the huge flaws, we kept trying to patch or make sense of with house rules ;)
