have had a scan of the forumns archive. But now as it has been around for a while, whats the general feeling about Bryce on Vista platform. (I have a new dual core PC coming and Vista will be the OS) - Does it run okay, does it need a patch? Thanks in advance for your tips. Richard.

OK on 5.01. Couldn't say about higher versions. MS has patched up the OS so even Wings3d is running better. Haven't had any specific problems come up. Mine's an HP lappy dual core 6000 series. Good luck with yours, and be sure to pick up all the Windows updates for the OS.

Don't know about Vista but I'm running Bryce 6.1 on a dual core.  6.0 ran fine and seemed to use both processors, on 6.1 you get a render option and if you set the priority option to high then it uses both cores, on medium it only uses one.

Don't know about Vista - it seems so bloaty that I've started trying run more stuff with WINE on linux. If I can go completely windoze free I'll be happy, at the moment I use it Max and a couple of games, the games and bryce 5.01 run ok under WINE and I haven't tried Max as blender runs a dream.....

Running Bryce 6.1 without any OS related problems on my Vista x64-bit. I have Vista running just as fast as XP for renders in my 3D apps. Games and IO functions run a very tiny bit slower though(drivers), but rock stable.

Bryce and Vista works great for me! I love all my Windows machines!

Running Bryce 6.1 (Poser 7 etc) on Intel Q6600 2.4GHz Quad-core, 4Gb RAM, Vista-32 Ultimate and nVidia 7600GS/512Mb. No problems, as long as you keep your graphics drivers up-to-date when deploying the OpenGL interface.

Note that Vista creates and manages a VirtualApps directory in your Documents&Settings sections which will contain the files you tend to create in ProgramFiles before, like additional presets. This way, backing up is seriously simplified.

I have a Dell dual-core with 4 gig running Vista.  For some reason, Bryce doesn't see all the memory.  Scenes that work fine on my 1gig laptop get an "Out of Memory" error on the Vista machine.  And to think I bought all that memory specifically for Bryce!

Hey Nukeboy, haven't seen you around here for a while...

Glad to know you're ok Nukeboy, hope the redundancy doesn't hit you (unless you want it to!) it'd be nice to see you around here more my friend, those long hours are gonna kill you if you're not careful. It's too easy to lose your concentration and then bad things happen.....

Sorry, can't think of anything from Romania more famous than Drac-Z.

Now I have a mental image of Drac smacking Bryster over the head with himself. (shivers)
