Born in Lewisham, London, UK, toured around a bit, moved to a town near Bristol 7 years ago, unlike Eddie I really don't want to learn the local language (i.e. 'Brisle' which is a very strange accent in places) :)

Born and lived in the lowlands of Oost-Vlaanderen (East Flanders), and moved to the province of Vlaams-Brabant, still in the Dutch speaking part of that little country, Belgium. Every small town or village here has an accent or dialect... my father was born three streets away and he has a different accent..;o)))

Well this is a good opportunity to explain why I write “BeNeLux” on the subject location…
The Benelux is an economic union in Western Europe comprising three neighbouring monarchies, Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg, which lie in the north western European region inbetween France and Germany.
I’m a Belgian amateur photographer and live officially in Louvain-la-Neuve (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louvain-la-Neuve ), the new university town, 40 km South of Brussels, in the province Walloon Brabant where my 3 daughters are also living.
Four days/week I’m working in Amsterdam (The Netherlands) and live in a very nice studio in the beautiful city of Haarlem (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haarlem ).
And for the week-ends, I always try to be with my dear Marie,in Gaume (South Belgium), close to the border with the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg (Groussherzogtum Lëtzebuerg : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luxembourg ).
But there are other places in the world where I feel “at home” : Tucson, AZ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tucson,_Arizona where I lived for one wonderful year), “somewhere in a small paradize”, in the Cévennes, France (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C%C3%A9vennes ),…
*So, I really feel myself a citizen of the world… ! *

Ah love this thread...smile.. now to my origin: Born in Germany, than my family went to Switzerland when I was 13. I stayed there until 24 than back to Germany and 2000 back to Switzerland... traveled "the world and the seven seas"..grin and have a really international family with German, Swiss, French, American and Australian Nationality...lol
I was born in Antwerp about half a century ago and still live there because of my job and the fact that I watch over my mum who is 86 and still lives alone in her house. But I have more friends in France (Provence, Charente, Limousin, Ile-et-Villaine, Côtes d'Armor, Finistère,...) than in Belgium. The most beautiful part of Belgium are the Ardennes. I love the valley of the Semois where my sister has an appartment in Membre. I have lived in London, for a job, long ago, where I learned English, in Lloret-de-Mar, Spain, where I learned nothing, for another job, also long ago, and in Paris ,for yet another job, more recent but still long ago, where I learned French. My ideal home would be central France, somewhere between Creuze, Corrèze and Limousin. If I didn't have to work for a living that is.
More soon on my home-page. I just discovered where it is hidden here on the site.
