I ran across this link a few months ago, lost it, and just found it again :).

The models are for research and non-commercial use only so be sure to read the disclaimer. Even better, after you read the disclaimer, scroll down a bit and you'll find dozens of more links to 3D models.

This site works best with Firefox to download..There is nothing wrong with the site..Just click on the picture to download..

Thanks; indeed it works fine with Firefox. I downloaded a number of models; it's a pity that many of them are faulty with missing mesh sections but the complete ones can be useful.

attileus: Get MeshLab (sorry, don't have the link), it can repair broken meshs.

There are some very nice models there, including a lot of train models which seem to be as rare as hen's teeth elsewhere on the web. I repaired a couple of them using Wings3D.

Thanks for the tip about Wings3D danamo.

A little note: If you click 'ALL.xxx' in a given category you'll download all the models in that category. Be careful, some of those have more than 6K of models. :D.

But than again that isn't exactly a bad thing, is it? :)

looks like at some point that site was linked with 3DCafe so some of the models you cant download.
 
3D Cafe still says their free pages are being updated.

I had absolutely no luck with Internet explorer but firefox works. Lot's of great models here. I've been looking for a buddah other than the laughing one for some time. Still trying to get a usable lucy statue (the angel with thte torch).

There are lots of links to places like 3dcafe and I even saw one to renderosity. Even though the 3dcafe link was dead the model I wanted showed up with another name on another site about two pages later and that one was alive. I also saw some 3dtotal people and starwars max meshes that had been converted to obj and posted on other sites after resetting xforms. 

Some of the models had no download but you could go to the source page and download it plus others by logging in. Definately worth digging and poking around to see what's there.
