Subject: Clothing texture assistance needed

maricia ( ) posted Sat, 28 July 2007 at 6:36 AM · edited Sat, 25 January 2025 at 1:35 AM

I have created some textures for clothing and used them in Poser 7 already.  I now want to also be able to use double click in the menu to bring in the textures and maybe also create a zip to create an install file.  How can I achieve this?  Any help will be appreciated.

Mat Pose Creator would do the trick.

Vince that's an awsome little bit of info you have in that tutorial.  Thank you for that!

Now I have a questionyou may or may not know the answer to.  How is it possible to change the mat file from associating itself with one figure to another?

I tried yesterday to use Nanette textures on Mill baby.  That didn't work at all.  I was going to go through and individually change all the image maps but I wanted all the nifty nodes that are attached to Nanette that seem to make her look so great.

Well, image maps names or locations are not the lone problem, i assume Nanette and Mill Baby don't have the same texture domain names (i.e. Lips, SkinHead, LCornea...). Try to load a V3 MAT Pose on H3, some bady parts won't be textured because they not have the same domain names. Though V3 and M3 share the same domain names, it's possible for them.
The only thing you can do, is to load both Nanette and Mill Baby characters, and copy/paste Nanette textures on Mill Baby with the minor changes that suppose. Then, follow my tut to make Mill Baby .mc6 a MAT Pose file.

edit: i don't know these characters, so i may be wrong :)

Heh - If you don't know Nanette you are missing out on a truly great V4 texture.  Can't say as much for what comes with Mill baby though : p

Unfortunately I don't even know how to copy and paste textures.  Hopefully I can manage to learn that before I attempt my next render with a baby involved

jj - What software do you use, Paint Shop Pro or Photoshop? You can manipulate the textures in these programs to transfer from one to figure to another. They may not be perfect in the seams but the seams can be hidden with clothes or postwork.
Also regarding the nodes, I'm quessing but I suppose you could make a note of the nodes that are used with the Nanette texture & try to replicate them in the material room with your new texture.
Or have you already tried all this?

I must add, Nanette's texture is one of the best out there, your choice is a good one!

I use photoshop, I already copied the Nanette skin texture to the mill baby template.  That part was easy.  It's simply the nodes I was talking about.  I did try recreating them but there are quite a few and I really had trouble getting them right.

Can a python script be made to copy the nodes from a specific texture to transfer to another?

jjroland ( ) posted Sat, 28 July 2007 at 12:12 PM

I sure would like to know - unfortunately when you say "script" or "math" my eyeballs go crossed and my brain explodes.

Nice one jj, LOL!
I've never really got into the technical side of Poser, I guess if I had more time I would. I'll try & do a search for this later, if I can't find anything I might go over to the Python section & ask one of the experts there.

Quote - if I can't find anything ...

Try Dimension3D's "Copy Material" script, see -> http://www.renderosity.com/mod/freestuff/index.php?user_id=288865
It's down towards the bottom of the page.

The hard side:

right click on the nodes you want to copy, "select all". Go to the character material tab you  want to apply the nodes, right click, "paste". Then change the image maps. Do that for all tab and you're done. Hard work, but hu... you only have to save as a collection after. And to follow my tut to have your MAT pose file.
