hmmmm, I think I talked about Deep Paint being free last week or so ago. http://www.renderosity.com/mod/forumpro/showthread.php?message_id=3030108&ebot_calc_page#message_3030108
But always good to post it again. Sharen
I installed the free version of Deep Paint and Bit Defender picked it up as a Virus. While installing, Bit Defender blocked it 3 different times, stating that it was a Win32.strationGen@mm virus. I immediately uninstalled it. This kind of virus is basically spyware. Just a heads up for those who want to install this version.

There's no virus or any kind of malware in the program. I just downloaded and scanned it with AVG Pro, Vundo and Spy Sweeper. I then installed it, and had no problems. My system is clean according to all my security software.
Some Malware detection programs tend to be a bit overly aggressive when attempting to identify "droppers" by tagging every sysmon call function as a Trojan. Bit Defnder has that reputation. I wouldn't have any qualms about using the Deep Paint download.
It's too bad I think alot of good programs get bad reputations due to false positives in virus programs like that. Users unfamiliar with the kinks innocently report the problem and boom everyone thinks the program is bad news.
Anyway thanks for the heads up I can't wait to try it.

It's probably a false positive but sometimes FREE programs are not always free. Spyware is too risky and like I said, Bit Defender picked it up but it may not be accurate. Bit Defender never gives me a warning unless it thinks there's something suspicious with it. It's most likely a false positive. I will reinstall it and try it out. I really want to learn how to use it.

Adrian: I hope you didn't think I was being critiical of you. Posting the information you gave was a responsible and caring thing to do. I appreciate you willingness to be of service to others. It's always possible to pick up something online when downloading a program, even if the program itself is clean. One of the worst offenders is the virtumonde class of Trojans. These suckers can hit you anytime you are online and downloading anything, even a web page. The only sure way to get rid of them is to use atribune's vundofix. It's free and a great app. The link I provided is for the download site. Just for peace of mind, I'd use it after installing Deep Paint. Even if your copy has somehow been infected, vundofix will eliminate any vrus and restore the program sterile clean, making it absolutely safe to use.Yep, better safe than sorry.
still hooked to real life and enjoying the siesta!

Attached Link: Roadkill - worth checking out?
RoadKill is definitely going in my toolbox. I started a thread on that subject in the UV Mapping forum. Edited for manners: thanks for the tip on Deep Paint, I'll be checking that out too. I see it works as a Photoshop plug-in, has anybody tried it with Paint Shop Pro?I went to the third link and downloaded the Daz models, but when I went to install it, my computer didn't know what to do with it, since the download has a .sit file extension, which it doesn't recognize. Come to think of it, I've never heard of a .sit file before, either. I'd really like to use these models if I could figure out how to install them. Any thoughts?

You have the Macintosh version, Arrowhead. The Windows version is at this link:Bonjour ".sit" files are an archive format (still) popular in the Mac community. A free unarchiver for WIN used to be found on the editor's website (http://www.stuffit.com/), and might still be. Too bad the free "Deep Paint" is WIN only though... and hopefully "RoadKill" will pe ported to MacOS once it is out of beta (too bad there are only 24 hours in a day...).

It's been mentioned elsewhere, but the excellent 3D Starter Pack is also free until August 31st. Heartily recommended. I use V3RR much more often than I do the standard V3.Outstanding! Thanks guys. Hey there English Bob, how are things in the UK? One thing I remember about England, was that it was always green. The grass, the trees, etc. Gosh, I can't remember what green plant-life looks like! Everything here is brown and dusty, and dry. ugh.
Thanks again!

Thanks, EnglishBob, for pointing Arrowhead to the correct Windows link. The new link I've provided will take you directly to Download.com's free DAZ repository. If you've ever been curious about Bryce, version 5.5 is available free. Life is good.A Bishie kind of guy (Anime-Manga 2D)
In fairness to Deep Paint, here is my first Deep Paint image, with some very slight finishing touches done in the GIMP.

I did a search through the archives and found no posts announcing that Deep Paint 2.0 is now absolutely free. This is a great tool for all poser users. You can download it here and save yourself a big fat bundle of cash (sniff, sob):

Roadkill is a free UV mapper that is more versatile and easier to use than many commercial programs. It also has plugins for 3ds Max and Maya. Use it with the free Deep Paint and you're good to go for any project:

I've often come across posts from users asking whether DAZ is still offering any free figures and where they might be found. So help yourself to the best of the best ( Victoria 3.0, Michael 3.0, Aiko 3.0,and Hiro 3.0) in a single download:
