After you make a character or prop or whatever, you can export that as an .obj file. Import it into a free program called UVMapper by Steve Cox (who is featured guest this week?). Make a map template and export the new map and the new .obj file. Paint over the map template (saving under a different name!!!) using any decent paint program (many of us use PhotoShop because it has layers). Test the new texture. Ta-dah! Texture map. To add more depth to hair and decoration, you may wish to create additional maps called bump and transparency maps. Bump maps fool the camera while rendering and create extra relief with shadows and highlights. Transparency maps make hair look wispy or put cut-outs in clothing depending upon how used. Carolly

What do you use to make your skins with? i've seen some great ones here, and I'm at a loss. Say i make a character with i dunno, HUGE arms or something (usin the default p4 character). can i then export that texture it uses as a skin for editing?? also, what do you all use to add facial/chest hair?
