Installed SR2.1? Has it fixed your issues from when you had SR2 installed? I know there were quite a few of us that has installed SR2 and then had strange things happening in poser ditched and went back to SR1. Have any of you installed SR2.1 to see any difference??

Thanks!

Hmmmm, Funny that you should ask that; Before I tell you my experience, My PC has Norton SystemWorks installed and it's up all the time and it informs me of any type Goings-ons regarding outside stuff trying to gain entry,The majority of the members who read this allready are familiar with it; Anyway, When I had SR2 installed into my Poser 7 program, It (The SR2 file) turned my PC and/or my security program into an extremely annoying anti-piracy cop; Now, I paid for my Poser software, But whoever thought this up at E-Frontier did'nt have both oares in the water; When I start my Poser 7 program now(after SR2) and start working in it, Every 15 seconds, A warning window would pop up,Blocking my view of my work and telling me that an outside source(Hmmm, let me guess, E-Frontier?)is trying to gain entry,Click 'Permit' to allow it; like my poser program I paid for is telling them"Hey! I don't know if this guy paid for this program,Can you check his receipt?"; When I shut my modem off, I can't operate my Poser 7 program; It's like when you go to a movie and while you're trying to enjoy it and follow the story, The usher would tap you on the shoulder every 30 seconds or so and ask to see your ticket stub; I'm sorry but it's extremely annoying;other than that, No noticable difference in the program.

Quote - it's extremely annoying

One of the things that has soured me pretty permanently on Poser is the friendly strip search mentality of eFrontier. Treating your paying customers like thieves may be just fine for some folks, but I'm offended. Particularly when the "security folks" are morons who can't even write a decent cookie to save one's serial number. I have had to re-enter my serial number every time I pick up anything at e-F.

My view: e-F has squandered what good will there was for Poser, and pretty much handed the business over to DAZ. As much as I dislike the smarmy hypocrisy of the latter, I expect that I'll have made the switch to D|S by the time Poser 8 arrives with much fanfare, inflated promises, and more bugs than a Colombia beach house.

Now I feel at least a bit justified in my recent rant about not wanting to update to SR2.  I knew that it was too good to be true.  Every SR here seems to fix some problems and create worse ones.  When will they learn to have a larger beta-testing base and spend more time testing?  I can't say that my process is great for plugin development, but then it's just me - not fifty developers, thirty managers, marketing, human resources, and a couple hundred other employees around the world.  I can claim lack of resources - they really can't, can they?

Well, I blame norton for your problems. google norton and problems on the web.. you'll find thousands of issues.

Smartest thing yo can do, it turn norton OFF, and THEN install sr2.1, and THEN see if you are still having problems.

Odds are, norton didn't allow something to be installed properly, and that's wjhy you are having issues.

Heck, even search for norton here.. you'll find dozens of peopel to tell to to get it off your system as fast ads possible. In some cases, you'll see a system speed increase of up to 20% JUST by not having norton installed.

Just like vista, norton does way too much hand holding an dprotecting, and check every dsingle file every single time it's access, and that's a system killer.

Way too many people take way too many things way too seriously.

It did for me. The only times I had problems with P7 was when SR2 was installed. P7 seemed to crash intermittantly for no reason, very irritating. This has stopped since I installed SR2.1.

I only noticed one small thing yesterday, the paramater dials for V4.1 are a bit unreactive, had to do the numbers manually. Not a huge thing, as I always had to do this in P6 anyway. The other items in the scene seemed uneffected.

In regards to rendering it is unchanged, just as fast as it was previously.

OH my gosh I totally agree about Norton I dumped that program a long time ago because it is just too intrusive  and doesn't play well with other programs. My guess is when I finish will all my customer projects I may install the latest SR but not until I complete me projects and that could be weeks. I was trying to get a feeling from those that had problems, went back to SR1 and the installed SR2.1 and saw if if has corrected things you had problems with before.

But I agree dumped norton and you'll see an increase in your machines performance. I also dumped that Windows defender as it runs in the background and hasn't caught a single thing! I have had more success with Avast anti-virus, Spybot and ad-ware that with norton or any of those other high powered programs.

Anniebel I just get the feeling it's V4.1 she just doesn't play well with others. I had a devil of a time with her in a scene with any other character in it with her. She's lock up and I couldn't move her arms or  legs, she wouldn't respond to poses and even with IK off moving her would cause her to go wild! Also, if there was another figure in a scene with her I could not get the cameras to move between the different figures.

Quote - Avast anti-virus

As a former long-term user of Avast AV, I can say unequivocally, do not trust any system you don't want to lose to Avast AV.  Its coverage is...limited.

I'm a penny pinching freeware junkie - but I no longer skimp on AV.

I have the most recent update and all is well over here.
I don't doubt your problems...maybe it's a multiple issue.

On my Mac powerbook G4 I am not altogether happy with SR2.1. Wish I'd stayed at SR1 which was fine really. The main obvious change I am getting since installing SR2.1: I now have lags when selecting Poses, MAT poses as well as figure poses. I have to click in the main window for it to take effect. It's REALLY annoying and feels slow. There are other little things I can't quite put my finger on. it just feels different than SR1 did. On the plus side I can now delete a figure or object from a scene without Poser having a long think about it first. And no sudden crashes and rendering is fast....but those issues were fixed for me in SR1 anyway. Can someone tell me if I decide to revert back to SR1 can I just install it ontop of SR2.1 or do I have to start over and do a new clean install of P7 ?

Gini-I'd be interested in the answer to your question.

I just uninstalled Poser 7 all together today after it totally crapped out when trying to open PZ3 files from my windows Start menu's Recent Documents menu. It was also causing Poser 6 to error out when trying to reload files this way.

No loss to me as I really havn't used Poser 7 much since it came out. Poser 6 works fine again after removing Poser 7 and fixing all my Poser file associations in the registry and pointing them back to Poser 6. I do most of my morphs in Zbrush and when I animate I use Mimic anyway, so the features of Poser 7 were pretty redundant to me. I can still use the Poser 7 figures in my Poser 6 Faceroom just fine with the right hack!
