THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: OT Mushroom House

I've started a sketchbook to jot down ideas for my 3D work. This was a based on a small sketch I made of a Mushroom House. It's pretty close to the drawing except that also had a telescope room in the roof.
Instead of doing it on computer though I got the Super Sculpey out.
I was surprised how well this came along. I completed the whole thing in a few hours after making a small tinfoil one and coating it in the clay. Even the painting went well. I undercoated it black, then sprayed a bit of white on it. I liked the look so much I did'nt finish painting it to the original idea but just added some muted ink washes.

Fantastic!  Now it needs a little mouse or gnome to make it its home.

Awesome work... :)  I've got a few of those that I purchased and just painted for fun.  Got them stored somewhere.

But to build it from Scratch that is just amazing.

Very nice.  What is the difference between sculpey and super sculpey?

Sculey....described as the clay that has put most beginners of sculpting. It's a lot more brittle.
Super Sculpey is a pink like clay that can be sculpted almost translucently. That's why a lot of users mix a bit of black and white Primo Sculpey into it, usually with the aid of a Pasta Roller, to make it grey, and thus more visible to the sculptor for detail etc.
Like Sculpey, it can be baked in the oven or heated with a Heat Gun and work continued. It can be drilled, sanded etc. It's very versatile and extremely malleable, it will pick up every fingerprint!

Thank you.  My experience with sculpey is that it is very brittle after baking.  I have not had much luck drilling or sawing it and usually resort to making holes I need before baking it.
