Subject: 'End' key ends Poser!

ockham ( ) posted Tue, 07 August 2007 at 9:25 AM · edited Tue, 24 December 2024 at 10:04 AM

Here's a keystroke to watch out for ...

When focus is on the library section, hitting the End
key closes Poser instantly, with no 'save' choice.

I was only trying to get to the bottom of a long list!

Khai ( ) posted Tue, 07 August 2007 at 9:32 AM

Oopsie!
The "Home" key has the same affect 👎

ockham ( ) posted Tue, 07 August 2007 at 2:01 PM

I guess "Go home!" is effectively the same command as "End it!"

Both tell Poser it's time to stop work and punch out.

Khai ( ) posted Tue, 07 August 2007 at 2:53 PM

anyone emailed it in yet?

Nance ( ) posted Tue, 07 August 2007 at 3:06 PM

Didn't do it here in P4 or P6.

In both of those, when END or HOME keys were pushed while focus was on a Library object,  it jumped to the last frame, or first frame  -- if the Animation Palette was open.

If the Animation Palette was closed the keys did nothing.

A P7 "feature" perhaps?

Yup, I'm sure it's new in 7.  I hit those keys often in a scrolling list,
pretty much by instinct.  If Poser had been closing on those keys I would have
noticed it before.  Might even be new in one of the SR's on 7.

Quote - Might even be new in one of the SR's on 7.

It happens in the original P7 (7.0.0.63)

Okay, I think I found the Trigger. For me, it only occurs if I have an unsaved File (one with no File Name). If anyone finds this is not the case for them, please contact e-frontier Tech Support.

I will also add that it does it for me in all versions of Poser when the File has not been saved yet or is not an existing File. (I had a hard time duplicating because I always open Poser by a File I am working on.)

@Ratscloset: Agreed in 7.  When I start fresh, Home or End kills it; when I have a PZ3
loaded, no problem.    As you said, this is probably why I hadn't noticed it before,
since I almost always work by modifying a 'template' PZ3.

But not agreed in 4; for me, Home and End do nothing at all
in 4 whether a PZ3 is loaded or not.

(I don't keep 5 and 6 installed, so can't tell with those.)

LOL !  I do not have Poser 4 installed.. (never owned that one... due to finaces, I went from Poser 3 to Poser 5 when I had the funds again to spend!)... I have confirmed it does occur in Poser 5 and Poser 6.

yeah, it does do it on an unsaved file state... I wonder if this is realated to the damn thing crashing every once in a while for absolutley no reason, like rendering, posing, just looking at it....

Khai ( ) posted Tue, 07 August 2007 at 10:28 PM

funny tho... I can't get poser six to do it here. no saved file, library selected and hit End or home.. and nothing. Poser Six is still there.....

ratscloset ( ) posted Tue, 07 August 2007 at 11:56 PM

Poser 6 was where I first noticed. I think it was a bit slow to close, but it still does. Vista does not close completely, which makes me think OS also is involved somehow. (Poser 6 is only on XP 64 amd Vista)

What's the big deal? For a pile of money, you can add network rendering that turns off your monitor when you hit the Space bar!
