Subject: Question about converting "MC6" files to MAT Pose

Pandorian ( ) posted Wed, 08 August 2007 at 9:49 AM · edited Wed, 05 February 2025 at 12:08 PM

Howdy, I've recently converted some MC6 files (material collections files) using Poser 6 into MAT Pose files.  Now, while they work perfectly fine in Poser 6, I noticed that upon loading those same converted files for use in Poser 5, NONE of my converted MAT Pose files shows up in the Pose display folder where I placed them.  I checked the actual folder where they are located and they are ALL there..... they just don't show up displayed when I call up the folder in the Pose Library.

Is it something where since Poser 5 has the ability to store only ONE material collection in the Material Room (as opposed to P6/7 which can store multiple material collections) if that may be the problem?  Otherwise, what if anything have I done wrong and is it possible to get these MC6 files that I've converted to MAT Pose in P6 to work in P5?

Actually, I just noticed that even a regular Pose folder (for use with M3) that I created in P6 is not even displaying at all in my P5 Pose Library.... .though when physically checking, the folder and all its contents are there.

Thanks in advance....

This is odd, since AFAIK Poser doesn't check the contents of library files until you come to open them; so the library display should be complete even if the files are garbage. You haven't run into Poser 5's library limit, by chance? 100 is the default maximum, IIRC.

hmmmm, the max limit? I currently have 225 folders in the Pose Library, though one of the folders that is an issue (and has about 45 texture files) IS displaying ONE file out of the twenty some odd it supposed to display.

I refreshed my memory on this. If your library is over the limit, then you should still see text labels for the items; all that happens is that the thumbnails are suppressed. Do I take it that your library is completely blank?

There are two folders that I loaded into the Pose Library, one is the converted MC6 to MAT Pose folder which contains about 45 converted MAT Pose files, that particular folder displays only ONE file out of the entire 45 files.  The other folder which is a regular POSE folder for use with applying different poses to M3 does not show up at all in my Pose Library.  Though when I follow the paths to both of these folders, everything seems to be in there.

Well, now I'm really perplexed!  I just loaded the same files into Poser 5 on my son's laptop and everything is working fine!  Must be some sort of corruption going on in the P5 on my computer I suppose.  In any event, while I would still like to get to the bottom of this, I want to thank you EnglishBob for ONCE AGAIN, coming to my aid.  :)  I really appreciate it.

P.S., if you do come across what the possible problem might be, I would definitely be interested in hearing it.
