THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: How to ignore somebody?

dvlenk6 ( ) posted Thu, 09 August 2007 at 11:08 PM · edited Sat, 09 November 2024 at 7:28 AM

So, there is someone that I don't want to have to read their stupid asshole comments anymore.
How do I arrange it so that they don't show up anymore in a forum?

It would be better if it could be ALL forums, but if I have to go through and do each seperately, that's o.k. too.

You mean there is no ignore feature on the forum here?
I could have sworn there was one somewhere. I guess I was thinking of some other forum. I know some forums have it.
What a bummer...👎

If their comments are out of line, you can report them to a moderator and if they feel they are out of line they will do something about it. It's been a long time, but there have been some bannings in the past.

They aren't TOS violations.
Just REALLY stupid, REALLY long posts, and constantly arguing. I would much rather not have Ebot notifications when they post, and not have to pick through threads (meaning those posts just don't show up in thread) that are otherwise interesting.
It's no big deal; I just thought it would be nice.

You can UNSUBSCRIBE to a thread...I think......(see bottom of the last post.)

You can turn off smiles, signatures, banners or turn off all ebots for bryce, poser, etc. You can't single a paticular user out.

If you use Outlook to read emails you can create a rule to trash that person's ebots.
Go to the tools menu.
Pull down to the Rules and Alerts
When the window pops up click the first tab that says " new rule"
Click on the button that says "start from a blank rule"
Select" check messages when they arrive"
Click the "Next button"
When the Rules wizard screen pops up check the box that says "with specific words in the body"
This phrase will appear with "specific words" highlighted in blue in the lower frame of the window.
Click the Specific words link and a "Search Text" window will open.
Type the persons rosity username in the window
Click Add
Click OK
Specific words in the window will be replaced by the name you typed.
Press Next
You have the choice to move it to another folder, Delete it, permanently delete it, whatever.
Click one and press finish.
Every time you get an ebot saying so and so has replied it will go where you sent it.

The best way to ignore someone is just that"
IGNORE::DELETE:
I do it all the time :: good luck:

You know.... I wish there were an ignore feature.
It's not that someone breaks ToS or is offensive... but I have one person who just... irritates the heck out of me.
They never did a thing to me, I don't know them... and it makes no difference. That person just irritates me. I have a fingernails-on-blackboard reaction to seeing their name.

Could we have an ignore feature? lol

Electoglyph, I don't use outlook; but thanks. I have something like that with AOL spam filter.
I'm so used to deleting the spam that slips through the filter that it is no biggie.

Silke, that's about right where I'm at.

EDIT - evielousie, didn't mean to ignore you. That's what I've been doing. I'm just lazy enough to hope that I could make the forum do it for me :)

Gee, it's a good thing we don't have that "ignore" feature implemented in the Forum here or I might find myself completely alone. ;-)

Where have you been Danamo?
Haven't seen you around lately.

I wish rendo would just pay the $160 and buy vBulletin, rather than this custom thing.  Which doesnt even have a Spell Checker and even worse wont allow FireFox's built in Spell Checking features to work...  Or is there a Spell Checking feature here already?

I run my forums on it and my members can ignore posts by other members if they wish.  They can create Ignore lists and Friend Lists.

what we did with Outlook (if you're using that) in the past was to create a rule. The rule was, that if you got an email from a certain person, instead of sending it to the inbox, it was sent to trash. If your email can do that, it would get the ebots going away. I can't remember the settings (we're stuck on Notes...sigh..;) but it could be done

and over time, I suppose with a lack of response, they would go away as well.

I wish I'd said that.. The Staircase Wit
