Subject: To Shape or Not to Shape

So I have worked very hard to develop a character for V4 to go to the Marketplace. I have my INJ and REM pose files for the face, and they work. I've got my MAT files, I've made nice pngs for them, I've started my readme file with my credits for the resources that I have used (Victorias Style)......And so here is the rub. Should I custom morph her body or not? Like A3 before her, V4 has, in my opinion a nice body in Default position (unlike V3).  But, I suppose I could tweek it some here and there. However, if I do that, most available clothing, both free and in the Marketplace, will not fit properly. So I'm asking opinions. Should I shape her body or should I just stick with my head morph settings in my package to go to the Marketplace?

maybe just the head will be enuff, unless the marketplace requires more. in the above image, the hair appears to be cutting thru the ear. is there a way to fix that, so the hair flows past the ear instead?

You'd have to export the hair (Grace Lion) out to a modeling program and create a morph for that, which I don't have the skill to do unfortunately. I chose the Grace Lion for my promos since I have a package by 3Dream of lovely textures for it, which includes a platinum white.

A lot of people (me included) don't like the default V4 body.  IMO, I'd alter it somewhat, even if it's only a dial turn or two.

I think if you use Poser Magnets, to shape, then you can apply the magents to clothing props?  I've never tried, but this is what I've heard.

I personally don't like the default V4 shape. If you plan to put this in the marketplace without a body morph I would imagine the asking price would have to be lowered. I think your best bet is to create a body, as unique as possible, then include a separate head & body injection. This way people can choose whether to go with your body morph or the default.

Is that a Drow?
It looks like a drow to me, or more like a half-elf drow.
If it is not a drow, please disregard the following:

I would not expect an underworld elf to have a completely human shaped body. Similar; but not identical.
Some general characteristics of a drow (from R.A. Salvatore's works and AD&D):
They are the smallest of all elves; and the most delicately fashioned. Females are larger and more physically powerful (mentally too, and magically).
Average Height: 53 to 60 inches (male), 55 to 63 inches (female)
Average Weight: 80 to 100 lbs. (male), 90 to 110 lbs (female).
Skin: Black, with 'stone-like', i.e. marble, characteristics.
Eyes: red (most common), pink, violet, colorless (rare). The 'whites' are light grey, instead of white. Any of them can glow (w/ red glow) in the dark (infravision). Very almond shaped and slanted. Larger than human eyes, and more shallowly set in the face; evolved that way to gather more light.
Hair: White (most common), metallic silver, metallic pale gold (rare)
Bone structure in general is delicate; especially hands and fingers (which are also longer than human fingers). Elves are much more flexible than humans, so they have shallower joint sockets; which gives them a more 'bony' or knobby appearance at the joints.
Facial features are delicate as well, w/ high brow and cheekbones (both of which are prominent). Angular facial features are common.
Limbs tend to be longer in proportion to body than a human.
Elves have no canine teeth.

nodding to dvlenk6  Yes, I'm familiar with AD&D elves, as well as having read several of R.A. Salvatore's books. There are many versions of "elf" out there.There is AD&D, Tolkein, Windi Pini elves of Elfquest (of which I have personally autographed by the Artist and her husband the first three large size issues of the Elfquest comic from the early 1980's), there are elves from Norath, elves from Oblivion video game (very addictive game and IMO, has the ugliest elves I've ever seen unfortunately)......the skin texture for the above figure, Miralith, was inspired by the look in the Norath games, rather than the shiny black as shown on the covers of Salvatore's work and beautifully portrayed by Daio with her Drow elf packages. I wanted to do something different and utilize the nodes in P6 to achieve the skin tone, which in the end came out resembling most the elves in the Norath video game for PS2. My personal concept of elves is that they are far more beautiful than humans, with extremely fine, delicate features. I've been messing with V4's dials for hours and hours and she doesn't easily lend herself to small, delicate features. Her mouth is frustratingly large and wide. To get the ears to a reasonable point using her dials means that they are much larger than I would really like for an elf. I worked with V4 until I got a face that I felt was pretty and about as small featured and delicate without crumpling the face structure. I am working within Poser and not creating custom morphs in an outside program. A long time ago I had a tutorial for morphing and the original Amorphium to morph P4 figures, but that's in a desktop computer in storage in Dallas, TX (I'm in Canada right now applying for permanent residence and all my things and car are in storage in Dallas). A crimson and lavender eye texture is included in the package I'm preparing. I worked last night and morphed V4's body, created the INJ pose and made sure it worked before crashing in bed. The body morph can be applied seperately from the head morph and I'm preparing to make the INJ pose that applies head and body morph together. In this way, people can chose if they want to use the body morph or not because only some of the available clothing items for V4 include morphs that mirror her body morphs. I have a personally morphed V3 that I use in my renders and I have quite a few clothing items that have no body morphs at all with them and won't fit my V3 completely, so I didn't want to frustrate others with this particular problem with clothing. I'm hoping that some people will find my Miralith attractive and want to use her for their renders.

Well, I don't know how many people still play D&D these days :)
It was originally written to be very flexible, and drew ideas from a lot of books series. Anything can really be made to fit in with it.

Anyway, it looks good so far. A lot like I would picture a surface drow to look; a little more 'earthly' than the ones that live in the underdark.

Friends don't let friends use booleans.
