Subject: poser 7.0 and pro pack character

duf ( ) posted Sun, 26 August 2007 at 10:23 AM · edited Mon, 30 September 2024 at 2:53 AM

Hi , 5 years ago , with my old computer, I used poser 4 and the pro pack . I used to make a movie with Mimi and Ginger. I don't have poser 4 anymore. And changed my computer. I am looking to purchase the new version 7.00 and wondering if those character still in it, or if there is a way to get it back.

Thank you

I just looked and I don't see them in Poser 7.  In Poser 5 and 6 they are listed here

You can just reference the older Runtimes or copy them over to Poser 7 (library files, Geometries, and textures for completeness).

C makes it easy to shoot yourself in the foot. C++ makes it harder, but when you do, you blow your whole leg off.

That would work for me since I own the previous versions of Poser, but based on Duf's post it sounds like he doesn't own any version of Poser right now.

Ah.  Then it depends on what 'I don't have poser 4 anymore' means.  Did he sell it or just toss it?  In the latter case, he still 'owns' poser 4 and could probably get a replacement install disc.  If sold, not much to do but purchase an old copy of poser.

People seem to forget that Poser doesn't embed all of the scene data - it still makes Runtime references to geometry and textures.  You gotta keep the Runtime for that case even if you intend to never ever use Poser again (and then change your mind later on).

This seems to be an oversight of e-frontier.  All previous stock figures should be included or at least available as a separate download for just such situations.  Since the person owns Poser, they aren't stealing content, just keeping backward compatible (a horrible phrase, I know). ;)

I found a solution. Although CP and EF don't sell Poser 6 anymore the demo is available at download.com. Purchase Poser 7 and download the P6 demo. The P6 demo contains the Cartoon content, so you can then move it to Poser 7.
