I'm sometimes inclined to make such modifications, but never actually do.
When the item is purely for my own, ahem, pleasure, the pleasure will not
be less because a table or telephone is historically inaccurate.
And if the item is for serious use, I'll just build a different one from scratch anyway.

When I make stuff, and ask for the input from others, I tend to give p[eople a cutoff date, past which it's too much work to incorporate suggestions in a current piece, but I will file them for use in another piece.
When I want something to look exactly the way I want it to look, I tend to make my own suff.

I tend to make my own stuff (every pic has something I made in it..I think..there's been hundreds..;) but lately for sure..;) I've had people direct me to better reference pics from time to time...
My bit is that I'll model something, it's so-so, and a month to a year later someone will model the same thing so much better than I do...sniff, sniff..;) I call it Pakled's curse..;)

"I could do better than that" is one of the standard reasons for people going off and creating things. There are even places you can publish your novel without being ripped off--it costs you, but you get what you pay for. The Poser-verse is one of those places where anyone can make and sell stuff. But how many times do you end up modifying a product because you just know it's wrong. Sometimes it's as simple as a major scaling errorOther times, you're tickled into Google by some vague recollection, and find a stack of detail photographs, and you end up replacing a fat bolt with a machined pin. And, flip-side to that, what do you do when somebody else sends you the pictures that you nevcr found?
