Anything that says 'Nudity' I enlarge. Can't ever get enough nudity. ;=D

Well, I'm the opposite. I try and stay away from the nudity. I've clicked on it a couple of times when it looked like the render was worth seeing and been surprised that there was no nudity at all.
Back to the original question,
I usually just look at the main page, what's new and what has had the most interest.
I reckon I click on about 10% of what's there.
If I have time I'll wade through as much of what's new as I can and comment on anything that takes my interest....which is usually artists that have been overlooked for the usual stuff.
I view every category too!
I only click on a thumb if it looks like the main image may be good, I have a list of peeps images I don't look at because IMO they get too many comments anyway for what I consider poor work, but that's just my view I guess!
If the thumb is the generic nudity type thumb generated by rendo then I generally pass it by as I tend to think, if the poster can't be bothered to take 2 minutes to make a thumb then how much effort might have gone into the main image!
Injustice will be avenged.
Cofiwch Dryweryn.
I use the generic thumb for the simple reason as I've yet to find out how to get a thumb that's 200 x 200 pixels, and ONLY 15k. either it's 25-30k or it's so minuscully small that you can't see anything anyway.
There have been times when I've had to spend more time and effort making a thumb than I did on the origianl piece of art, and the results have been consistantly less than satisfying.

OT: I use the Photoshop "Save For Web" feature, for thumbs. It's very easy to get a 200x200 thumb. Just choose Jpeg high and that will usually be under 15k, if not just choose medium setting.
Not sure what I'd do without potatoshop mind you?
Acadia used to have a little clever tut about doing thumbnail, but i just can't put the hand on it...
If it has "balloon tits" then I don't even open it. What's the point?
And since the "no nudity on thumbnails" rule those are very hard to avoid, so generally I don't look at the gallery much.
To be honest, since that no nudity on thumb rule, it's become much harder to avoid the graphic nudity vs the artistic nudity. I don't mind people being naked, but when I have images of women with water melons for breasts shoved in my face due to daring to click on a thumbnail of a leg... well.
I wish there were an 'ignore' feature in the gallery.

naked and covered in ice-cream!!...........eh?.........what was the question again?
i tend to click on other software like cinema 4D and stuff recently when i have been to the galleries. been getting very impressed with some of the other software renders i have seen here, it is a shame that their talent isn't being recognised by the masses here though. a lot of their stuff looks such pro quality to me, that they really deserve better recognition 'round here.
I look at the Vue gallery first of all then wander back through the main gallery and kind of randomly open thumbnail that intrigue me (or that have the nudity tag on 'em :) )

Yes, that would not be such a bad idea in some cases. For the 'Poser' gallerie i usually try to look for the 'better ones' meaning a quality render, regardless if it is nudity or whatever... Yes i still do click on many 'nudity' thumbs (hey i'm a guy, wat did you expect LOL) but after seeing too much of these oversized creatures after all these years, it's getting a bit boring indeed !! For the 'Vue' gallerie i usually dayly look at 90% of the new uploads regardless of the nudity, postwork, violence or whatever and most of my comments are also in this gallerie. But occasionally when i see a good photograph (or any other work for that matter) i also give comment on a good work, for it's always fun when you get an email that somebody has left a comment on your work and shows you his or her interest :-) But i agree that if one uses nudity, it should be in an artistic way (or try to anyway) Wim
Society failed to tolerate me...

I view everything in 3D, except for anything in possette, V2,V3, V4. Like I haven't seen enough of that already in the poser gallery (yawn). I really enjoy the 3D modelling, and 3Dmax, Bryce, and Daz Studio stuff the most. And maybe I might look in the poser as long it doesn't have to show anything with females posing nude. If realism with cloths on (full figure and not facial), takes the highlight, I will look. Time for a change to other stuff.
Quote - I wish there were an 'ignore' feature in the gallery.
I do too, but I'd like a button that would let me screen out all the non-nude stuff, that way I wouldn't have to wade through all the artsy trash to get to what I really want to see.

TBH I rarely view the gallery It's just not an area of the site that I think to go to.
The few times I have gone to the gallery to browse I don't view by any particular theme, program etc. I just view whatever is in "What's New", for a few pages only though and then I get bored.
For the most part I just look at the thumbnails and titles, and if something "grabs me" then I open the image and look at the full sized image.
I probably end up viewing less than 10 images in total.
I don't feel a need to comment for the sake of commenting, so I do not comment on all images I view. I want my comments to mean something, not a method to try and garner reciprocal comments on my images like I see so many people doing by copy/pasting the same comment from image to image.
So when you see a comment from me it means that I was really struck by the image and that it evoked some feeling/emotion/memory in me to the extent that I felt I just had to let the artist know. My lack of commenting on other images that I view doesn't mean that they are bad images, it just means that I wasn't struck with the desire to leave a comment. because the image left me feeling "neutral."

Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)
When I have time, I look through What's New without filtering it. I avoid looking at stuff that obviously been slapped together wihtout thought. I will look at Photographs and Fractals, but not comment on them because I have no way of knowing what's good or bad in those catagories. I will look at any 3D render. I lke to comment because I remember the thrill I got from the comments I received for my first render. From time to time, I go through my gallery and click on the galleries of people who commented on my work so that I can return the favor. I think it is very import for artists to comment on each other's work because I've found that most other people are simply to busy to bother with art these days.
I don't get to the galleries often but when i do i tend to limit it to Poser stuff because i want to see what others are doing with the software i have.
I don't look for a specific genere catagory. I scan thru the thumbnails and if i see something interesting that is not a pinup or portrate then i'll take a look.
I almost never expand the image. I prefer to see the whole image at once.
My Homepage - Free stuff and Galleries
Nudity rocks- bad lighting is a crime
I look through 'whats new' untill I get bored. Maby one picture per page gets my attention. As a pinup artist i'd get 500 to 1500 views. Lately I havn't made any pinups. But the non-nudes get 50 or 60 views.
Makeing the occasional pinup does help you build a fan base that otherwise wouldn't look at your other stuff. Sex sells.
But crap is crap- nude or not!!!
At the price and shere quanity of market stuff, plus the fact that a lot of people just don't own computers that can handel more complex scenes with a bunch of stuff in them. You all shouldn't be so hard on those that can only make nudes with 44 F cups. lol.
I'm not hard on them. I'm saying it's something that turns me off the gallery.
I don't mind nudity either, there are some very good nudes in the gallery. I do nudes.
I'm saying that because of the no-nude-thumbs rule I can't avoid the nudes that I don't like anymore.
As you said, crap is crap. What I see as crap is another person's heaven. And what they view as crap might be something I think is brilliant.
But that's not what the thread was about.
I prefer to go in and not get surprised by Missy Melonboobs. That's why these days I avoid checking images if I can't clearly make out what the image is about from the thumbnail because I see half of a knee or something else meant to be enticing. Nor do the faceshots entice me into looking anymore, because I landed in too many nasty surprises that way as well.
The "what's hot" is 99% rubbish every time I look, so I don't bother anymore.
Maybe it depends on the time of day lol.

I perfer to view the galleries with my eyes and boy sometimes they HURT! LOL! I view the galleries very little as I post to them very little as most of my works are not mainstream and would invoke the rath of the thought police...LOL! I figure there are other places that gladly accept my work so there is no use breaking the rules here. One must remember as with any gallery beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
I check the gallery (all and all) once per day of possible. there's some good stuff in there. the thumbnails are usually so good that I don't even need to click on 'em to see the full-size image. I'm grateful they instituted the policy of allowing me to block violent images from displaying thumbnails. I don't leave comments in general, as it's only 1 in 100 thumbnails that I click on, and of those, only 1 in 10 are interesting enuff to leave a comment IMVHO. and never a destructive comment - they absolutely don't want that, and I respect their wishes.
to be honest, i don't think i look at the gallery enough. i have enough favorite artists, that i usually get my daily dose from them. i will say this: someone named dementia favorited a couple of my pictures once, and i found i loved everything she/he had favorited. there's tons i love that's outside of his/her picks and they're usually pretty mainstream, but i've never been unimpressed by the technical skill of those she selects. so i check and see what's been added to the list every now and then.
as for nudity... while i appreciate this site and how it's managed, i wish that more things were handled with organic methods rather than rules. and that members would embrace that. if i had a dime for every "i wish there was a rule about/against...," i'd be rich. if they wanted to improve how "professional and tasteful" the galleries looked, there were tons of different ways to acheive this that didn't involve blanket, inflexible rules. imho, the gallery looks just as much or as little (however you want to look at it) amateur and tawdry as it always did. it's just harder to distinguish quality nudes from standard manga mellon images.
i think asking us is not going to be very helpful when it comes to nudity. few people are as open and honest as dph, even to themselves. i think the viewing numbers speak for themselves.
i try to comment on a decent amount of what i look at, though i'm pretty consistently bad when the person is popular because i feel like my feedback isn't needed. i used to rate, but stopped. i don't want to lie, and i don't want to try to put art on a scale. i honestly don't know how anyone can. i mean, i'm very critical and analytical, and i can break down a lot of a piece's strengths and weaknesses pretty well. i still don't know how to place people on a scale that has to encompass my favorite sculptors, renaissance painters, various comic artists and illustrators, designers, and countless other artists in various genres and mediums. i can't even rate sergio aragones (cartoonist) and george pratt (painter) against each other, and they're both comic artists. i wish they just had a checkbox. because one linear scale that encompasses everything from technical skill, concept, and clarity to what feelings and thoughts it evokes and how effectively i think it accomplishes its creator's goals just doesn't work for me.
People who are complaining that everything in the gallery consists of pneumatic women seem to me to be restricting themselves to Poser, which is, after all, essentially about posing the human form, and perhaps even to certain sub-categories of the Poser gallery. Admittedly, I haven't looked at the galleries much myself latterly, but I seem to recall that they contained a fair amount of Vue material, quite a bit done in Terragen (not the best application for your melon-inspired renders, but a source of some very good 3D artwork), some Bryce and plenty of photographs.
As for those who want an "Ignore" button, why do you need a button to do your ignoring for you? There is a thing called memory and I am not talking about the stuff inside your computers.
*what galleries ?
*The Renderosity Plaza Art Gallery is in the lower basement, between the freestuff market and the melon-stall. For admittance, just press the button marked "MAKE ART" (third one down).
lately ive been visiting the comic gallery and as a Vue6 owner
I some time check the gallery here and at cornicopia
what can I say about the poser gallery that has not already been said
If the title is has the words "balance" or "Guardian", I just can't look at it. I'm weird like that, I admit. I never understand those "Guardian of" - images. It's like: "Why is she guarding that place and why is she half naked guarding that place? Is there something valuable there?" -Head explodes! I know you're probably just meant to look at it and enjoy it for what it is. But I keep asking those stupid questions for some unknown reason.
Allso, I rarely look at pinups. I get bored of them. There's like a gazillion of those and even though they are usually really nicely done, I just get bored.
Allso Faes bore me. Again those images are usually really well made but there's gazillion of those too.
Toon renders, comicbook stuff and the like I allways look at. Allso Vampires. Vue gallery is often really nice.
-Morbo will now introduce the candidates - Puny Human Number One,
Puny Human Number Two, and Morbo's good friend Richard Nixon.
-Life can be hilariously cruel
I don't think I have a viewing method.
I usually start with the front page for the galleries, and poke around...
Sometimes I wound up seeing someone's favorite image from someone's favorite image from someone's favorite image...
Sometimes I would up looking up a particular progeam, sometimes particular genre. Just depends on the mood and what's on my mind, and whether I'm at home or at the office.
I think people's pet picture need a catergory of it's own, I love seeing those :) Especially if they're kitties, but dogs, gerbils, pet iguanas and similar will do :)
I'm not really big on insect macros.

I miss the handful of good artists in the galleries, but I abandoned them for good in one of the monthly rounds of Puritan hypocrisy (Larry Craig is looking for work, I hear). When I feel the urge to check them out, I find that the best way is to begin by turning off the monitor. Eventually I get bored and find something else to do.

I prefer to view the galleries nekkid.....er, um, that is, without filter. I mean, sure, there's junk. You'll have that in every gallery. There was junk in the MOMA when I went to visit. But, there are gems.
And that's part of the bonus of being on staff. I get to see the gems that most everyone else skips over during their daily race to see the ones that look awesome by their thumbs ;) And then, I get to share them with you all on our "staff picks" thread.
And that, folks, is why I love my job :D

What categories do you limit yourself to? What percentage of the thumbnails do you actually click on? What percentage of those do you opt to enlarge? I prefer to view every category because you never know where the best images are hiding. I click on about 2% of the thumbnails and enlarge perhaps a third of those. I’m less inclined to click on images marked for “nudity” or “violence” unless the thumbnail is outstanding. Once, as an experiment, I clicked on an average-looking Poser image marked for nudity and was astounded to see basketballs attached to the character’s chest, followed by the stereotypical affirmation. I’ve pretty much opted out of commenting on anything. Sometimes I see a wonderful image that has something slightly wrong with it like an insufficient anti-aliasing level, but I’d be a beast to bring it up in the midst of the rave reviews, particularly when you consider that despite its flaw it might be the best image posted all week. Judging from the view counts, one might assume that for the most part the gallery viewers at Renderosity stick to their favorite ghettos, with Poser being the most popular, and “pinups” being the top subject.
