Subject: What are all these render options?

cujoe_da_man ( ) posted Thu, 30 August 2007 at 3:03 AM · edited Tue, 24 December 2024 at 10:01 AM

I do a serach for Poser 7 and all I get are Poser 5 serches returned.

So, my question is, what are (in as much detail as possible) all the different render options for P7 manual render options?

If you've seen my gallery, you'd see that I have a basic understanding of how to choose my options, but I like to know it all.

Like the post filter size,w hat does it do, why when I move the slider and change the option does nothing happen?  Things like that, I want to understand everything about it... and since the internet is useless, I can't find it out there.  So, if you know a site as well that explains all this, that would be awesome as well.

All of the different render settings have very good explanations of what they do and why in the Manual that comes with the product!

In other words you don't know either.

Well I'm not sure what you've got an attitude about, I was merely pointing out that instead of looking all over the net for explanations that they're in the manual, something a lot of peeps don't bother looking at!

In answer to your comment, I actually do know, but why should I bother writing an answer to it here when it's easier for the poster to get it from the manual and he/she will prolly understand it better as I'm not very good at explaining stuff!

Time of the Month is it!!

talk about time of the month... wow.

Ask a simple question and get a simple answer.  I didn't think it was necessary to have to write out a life story as to why I asked, but seeing as how everyone assumes I'm lazy, I will.

After I got P7, I packed the box, the manual, and even the CD way in a box somewhere, thinking I wouldn't have to use it.  That box is stored away in a shed at my parents and I thought it would be easier to just ask than to spend the gas, the hour or so finding the box, and then to sit down and read it all.  Then I also figured that since I couldn't find a similar answer to this question here that others might appreciate an answer.

So, I guess I'll just go to one of the other 3D sites, I'm sure they'd be happy to help

**cujoe_da_man: ** Wasn't having a dig at you at all for being lazy, I was merely offering what I thought would work, some peeps actually don't read manuals, no offence intended!  [shrug]!

Post Filter Size:  Supersamples pixels, i.e samples a pixel at pixel lever at different points to ascertain the final colour of that pixel, usefull for anti aliasing.
Increasing the size of this filter will increase the sampling rate but will also increase the render time!

If you'd said you'd misplaced your manual before I'd have posted this sooner!

Any other option you want to know about?

Hell IM me if you want and I'll scan the pages of the manual and send them to you if you want!!

Uh, hmm. Don't get pissed at me, but you apparently don't know that you have the manual in your Poser application.

Click the Help menu, then Poser Reference Manual. It will then teleport a digital scan of your manual located in the shed.

See page 362.

Now if you still don't find that explanation useful, please come back. Personally, the reference manual rarely answers why or when should I (not) do this? That's where I end up experimenting with a jillion test renders. But I've never bothered with the post filtering stuff - it seems to be complex and interesting ways to make your image look bad.

Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)

*Nope didn't know that, I always have my Poser  manual to hand, although I do prefer to use the pdf version for Vue [because I don't have a printed one, [LOL]

Try http://www.keindesign.de/stefan/poser/firefaq.html

All the RTFM sentiment around here would makes sense were the Poser manual not the most useless and sensless piece of tehnical writing that I have ever in my life encountered... the Chinglish manual for my Megnovox TV/DVD is more enlightening. I found that the Poser Revealed book promoted by EF was simply an attempt to translate the manual into a natural language form but was equally useless.

can't say it works for me, but I do find that pretending I'm in 'Grand Theft Auto' works about the same :P

and I'll be damned, a program that actually comes with a digitized manual, I thought that idea was dead, that will come in handy... my mouse usually doesn't make it that far on the menu bar :D

As for the other site, if two people reccomend it, I'll certainly be checking it out... after work.

and on a side note, wasn't trying to step on any toes or start a flame war, I was just curious.

Anywho, I'm out
