Hi everyone,

I finally got CS2 from Amazon (*at a very good price!) and I don't understand what I am doing obviously! I wanted to direct the PlugIns to an outside folder, and I guess I assumed that the Filters and Scratch disk were what I needed..So...I added the extension there and now PS keeps giving me default warnings about not locating the MSVCRT10.dll Now i know this is a standard System .dll, and it is right there...did I mess up and do I have to reinstall to fix this or is there a way to reinstate the default setting and elimenate that extension? Confused? I hope not, because I am, and who can help me if I confused you!?

Have you tried googling for Photoshop and MSVCRT10.dll? It's a known issue and you'll get a shedload of hits all basically giving the same answer. Hopefully that'll work for you.

the msvcrt10.dll issues are really no brainers. Just download the .dll and put it in your system32 folder. The problem I am having is finding where to direct the file path to my plugins, and getting PS to recognize it. I thought because of the warning on the .dll it was because i had tried to direct the plugins and scratch disk path to my plugins folder. My bad, but it still doesn't recognize my plugins and Adobe wants $39.00 to tell me where to put it (*no pun meant there...LOL!) So i need to just know how to direct PS to my plugin folder, and get it to recognize them so I can access them for use.

Do you know how to do that? Does anyone???

Okay - to direct PS to another folder for your plugins, you do indeed want Preferences -> Plugins and Scratch disks. You can then tick the box marked 'Additional plugins folder' and then click Choose... to find that folder. Then it should work with the plugins in that external folder as well as in the plugins folder that is part of PS' normal directory tree.

But - the problem with the .dll is not so much that it's missing, as I understand it - it seems that this means that PS is having problems with legacy plugins; for some reason, it then generates this .dll error. I've attached a link to the Adobe KB which might help. There are further explanations on lots of sites on the net.

Ahh and SH*T! I am fast getting to hate this program and I have only had it for 5 days! You would think for the money it would not be so proprietary or cranky! Well at this rate I am not going to upgrade, or buy photoshop related products. It is too much trouble and headaches. *sigh

Can you tell I am fed up with this. I was led to believe that products made for PS7 & CS were always usuable with newer versions because Adobe uses backward compatabillity? If this is so I guess a lot of product bought before that didn't work with PSP(*I thought I could convert, I was mistaken) will still not be useful. Hmmmm.....

Well ThanX for the assistance on this issue, it pretty much said that many plugins were not compatable, and also linking to outside folders seems to be an issue for CS2. 

*Sorry if this sounded snarky, it is just that I buy lots of things mostly here in renderosity. I have almost $350.00 in my cart for today, and now I am finding out there is issues with items not made specifically for CS2. I woory this will also cross over into Brushes! I was planning on getting all of Ron's brushes at CP...so I am a bit pissy at the news of issues. Sorry if it sounded directed at yourself.

No problem. Incidentally, I have a lot of Ron's brush sets (bought here) and they are all just fine in CS2.

What plugins don't work for you in CS2? It's always possible there are later versions around.

eyecandy 4000, haven't tried every possible option, but no problems with CS2 so far.

Don't have all of those, but I do have SuperBlade Pro, EyeCandy 4000 and 5, and Mura's Meister and they all seem OK in CS2. With the proviso again that I haven't tried every possible option, of course.

Well I got feed back from the adobe site that as long as there is no PSP shared files (*which makes it odd since that folder works for any program I have that accesses those plugins independantly, and isn't linked to any PSP) that it should load fine. NOT! LOL! I think I am going to set these files up in two seperate folders, mark one as PlugIns1 and PlugIns2, and associate the folder seperately to each program set. Then see how that works. One last thing. I never allow file associations for any of my programs, ie. psd files, pngs, or gif, etc. Because so many different programs access nearly all of my files.  So I assume that if I disassociate PS from these as well, there should be no problem? Just asking.

I can't see that there would be a problem. I have all my 2D images associated with ACDSee, and it doesn't cause any problems for PS.
