Subject: Irrelevant Error Messages When Opening Poser

Having transferred all my files to a new computer, I am now confronted by three pesky error messages every time I open Poser 4: 1. 'Shortcut to morphmanager.Ink missing,' etc. 2. 'Shortcut to Nose.Ink missing,' etc. 3. 'Shortcut to Garden Encyclopedia.Ink missing,' etc. (this is a totally unrelated CD program) No other problems. Morphmanager works fine. Anyone know how I can rid myself of these messages?

maybe resetting the preferred start-up state? maybe rerunning the poser 4 update? not knowing what an .ink file is (I did a search for one, don't have any on my machine) I don't know what else to suggest. are you running on a mac?

It's actually lnk, not ink. Every Windows shortcut is a .lnk.

Actually it is Link, LNK, or a shortcut (Windows calls them that internally, you don't normally see the extension) I'm sure. But after saying that I wouldn't know how to fix it, I'd suggest re-installing Poser for step 1 (over top of the existing copy), for step 2 try uninstalling (back up your data!)and reinstalling, step 3 might be going in the dreaded RESEDIT and try to find the referenes. An alternate plan might be just install a new copy in C:Poser 4, assuming the old copy is in C:program fileswhateverwhatever, and keep the old copy as a spare. Your new compter probably has a huge drive, Poser doesn't take up much space, I've got 3 copies myself.

oh, .LNK, duh, I feel stupid now.

THanks, all. They are links all right, but what for I can't imagine. I'll back up and reinstall, again -- though that's what caused the problem in the first place when switching computers.
