Subject: Poser characters in C6 Pro...QUESTION

Chrisdmd ( ) posted Sat, 15 September 2007 at 8:30 PM · edited Wed, 25 December 2024 at 1:04 AM

I am not sure what I read on the website but can someone tell me if you can animate Poser characters (or characters from DAZ) in C6 Pro?  Meaning...could I not need Poser?

Thanks

Yes! You can work by just saving the Runtime folders into Carrara and forget (well !) having Poser or DazStudio as apps on your desktop!

when a poser runtime is added to the carrara content tab, c6pro can open the poser cr2 files. once opened, the body parts show most of the same "dials" as does poser, although in c6pro they're sliders. non-morph dials such as twist, bend, front-back et al. may be missing. one has to use the rotation fields in the motion tab instead.

Hi.  I was just wondering can Carrara 6 Pro make use of Bvh files.  If I create a batch of bvh files can I assign them to poser people in Carrara to speed up the animating process?

one of c6pro's import options is biovision (bvh), but I haven't tried it yet.

BVH works on figures, sort-of. There are a couple of issues being worked out for the patch.

hello . i'm so happy to learn so much good things about this software. i've learned a lot with carrara 3 , i've losed it for others, and now i realise i could use it again. i have a few questions :
-the main difference between poser 6 and 7 for the question of bvh is the autoscale to better match figure's bones. does autoscale work too in carrara6pro when importing bvh files ?
-we can't import poser7 scenes for the moment but can we import pz3 files from MIMIC software ?
-is there a "conform to " button for conforming clothes ? or how to do it ?

thank you very much for your precious help

I tried some free bvh files from truebones.com. one of 'em (drunk1.bvh, 500 KB) worked on aiko3le (included in c6pro content), although not on some other figures. there's a "drop figure to floor in all frames" script for animations in poser, but I dunno how to do that in c6Pro, hence if I post the animation (assuming I can get a 500-frame gif uploaded here), it's gonna be going in and out of the ground plane slightly. maybe there's some command to drop a figure to the ground plane in c6pro.

thanks miss nancy for your reply .

i suggest for this problem to : import bvh on the figure in poser first. drop to floor on all animation. and export in ...bvh . secondly, reimport in C6pro. that should work ! maybe ?

but could you tell me please how to " drop figure on floor in all frames" in poser 7 ? that looks very helpful. where could i find this script ?

thanks again miss nancy. hope my suggestion could help you too :)

ockham (or possibly somebody else) wrote the "dropActToFloorAllFrames.py" script. it should be in one's poser/runtime/python/poserScripts/utilities folder, possibly in p5 and p6 as well. importing a bvh file into poser may also cause a figure to rise about 3 or 4 feet. since poser doesn't include the "body" element in its bvh files, I dunno if it's gonna work to export a bvh file from poser to c6pro. however, the drunkwalk1.bvh file caused aiko3le to rise 3.625 feet above the figure's zeroed position in c6pro. other than that, the file worked o.k. will try to get an animation small enuff in size to post here. the animation length is dependent upon fps in c6pro.

I dunno how this looks in xp/vista, but it's as smooth as a mov file in OS X. exported from c6pro (optimal). drunkwalk1.bvh from truebones.com.

dvlenk6 ( ) posted Sun, 23 September 2007 at 9:53 PM

It looks in smooth in XP.
Could maybe make a passing zombie shuffle anim. too. :)
