Subject: Importing OBJ problem

Hello. First and foremost I apologize if this has been already answered before, but I tried searching the forums for a solution to my problem wihout success.

Basically what I want to do is create an object using a base model exported from poser, for example, a belt around the base figure's abdomen. A picture will better describe it:

This image is just an example of what I want, which basically is exporting the torus from max to poser, keeping its position and scale relative to the base figure. The problem is that, when imported into poser, the scale and position is all wrong. This is why I'm doing atm:

(Using Poser 7 and 3dsmax 9)
1.- Export base figure from poser, selecting only "As morph target, no world transformation"
2.-. Import the base figure in Max, using: Rotate Model and Vertex Scale 1,000
3.- Create the torus around the base figure, then exporting it using: Group by Objects, Use Materials, Rotate Quads, Texture Coords, SmoothG, vertex scale 0.001, and #digits 6.

Now, importing to poser is where I get lost, no matter which settings I use, the model is never in the same place (around the base figure). Tried Objactor Mover but gives me an error scaling up or down. Also tried reseting the pivote. Tried playing with the scales in both Max and poser and nothing.

I guess the problem is either the world scale and pivote of the object, or the options when importing in poser, since I can export back the base figure as a morph and works just fine.

I would greately apreciate your help.
Thank you.

I don't know the ins and outs of importing and exporting from Max, but you should be able to test your process quite easily. Export any object (one of the primitives, for example) from Poser, with all the options unchecked. Then import it again, also with all the options unchecked, and it should appear in exactly the same place; easily checked if you left the original in place. Now you can try importing that file into Max, and exporting without doing anything to it. If your import/export process is correct, it should once again end up in the same place. If not, hopefully you can see what went wrong. :)

Thank you Bob, I think I found the issue, the OBJ importer/exporter that comes with 3dsMax 9 seems to be broken, no matter the settings I try, can't get it to work, Guruware's plugins works like a charm tho, got it on the first try.

You have no idea how much time I've been stuck because of this. The Habware plugin used to work with me just fine on Max 6, I dont know whats up now, since as far as I know, its the same one.
