Subject: OT---Question for mods

Are we allowed to advertise our non Poser related businesses within our posts? I.e. Travel Agency?

MatrixWorkz ( ) posted Mon, 08 October 2007 at 6:01 PM · edited Mon, 08 October 2007 at 6:02 PM

First off, I'm not a mod, but I'm  fairly certain that anyone is allowed to advertise with a small banner in their signature. But get verification from the Community Center forum. The TOS doesn't say anything about no non-cg related banners in signatures though.

Um, I don't think we'd say no unless it was insulting or a scam.  Or spyware.  Or warez.  Or virusy.  Or of an "adult" nature (i.e. "to click this link you must be 18", etc.)  But, I guess if you want to put a link to your travel agency in your sig, go for it...but, I'd definitely be subtle.  Subtle works.  A paragraph-sized sigline does not always.

Or, for another answer.....

42.

(Yes, feeling goofy.  Sorry)

edited because I apparently don't know how to spell "it"

Okay thanks. Will do and I promise it's a simple travel agency. No viruses or anything of that nature. Viruses suck :(

Acadia ( ) posted Mon, 08 October 2007 at 6:58 PM

Text sigs are best.  I tend to use my adblocker in Mozilla to block picture banners, especially if they are animated which bothers my eyes.

Personally, SSAfam1, I think the little red x in your sig is rather cute.

LOL I'm trying to get my old banner out and it keeps coming back. I go into Insert/Edit image and try and put up the new one but the old one keeps returning when I save my changes. : /

You need to delete your cookies and cache. It's probably a cache problem.

in case anybody asks, some users may disable sigfiles. but those guys aren't part of the target demographic anyway IMVHO.

SSAfam1, you'll have to use the 'source' button on the editor,  to insert an image sig ;)

And I will throw something at your head.  Whether I hit it will be irrelevant.  I'm a horrible aim.  It's the intent that matters.

There's always the Work From Home scams, and the phony job offers, too!

SSAfam1 ( ) posted Thu, 11 October 2007 at 7:16 PM · edited Thu, 11 October 2007 at 7:18 PM

Okay this is so annoying. I keep trying to put up my banner, but when I press, "Save changes" everything reverts back, instead of the changes being applied. I even tried to uncheck all the boxes just to see if the malfuction only pertained to the banner, and again, when I pressed, "Save changes", they went right back to being checked.

I did as the poster on here said and cleaned the cache. I hope they meant going into Tool options and deleted all your old history and settings? If so, that's what I did and nothing worked. :(

HELP PLEASE.

SamTherapy ( ) posted Thu, 11 October 2007 at 7:20 PM

Nope, that won't necessarily clear your cache.  Go to the Explorer icon on your dextop, right click and select Properties.  Click the buttons marked Delete Cookies and Delete files.

You'll have to login here again after you do that but that will have cleared your cache.

When I right click on the properties, of the IE icon, on top of my desktop, I get three tabs, (GENERAL, SHORTCUTS, AND COMPATIBILITY) No delete cookies/files in any of them. :(

Did you use the 'source' button on the editor?

Also, in IE, {with your browser open} Click on Tools>Internet Options> General Tab.....and it will be right in the middle to delete your cookies.

Quote - Did you use the 'source' button on the editor?

Orignially, I used the insert/edit image icon. I just put my URL in and applied then the signature came up. Now since someone in this thread told me to use the "source" button, I did it that way. When I used the source button, my new banner appeared within the signature box. I then went to "save changes" at the bottom and the new banner disappeared and the infamous red X appears.

Yes this is the way I did it first. I cleared all that (deleted cookies, deleted files, deleted settings and finally I cleared history) but SamTherapy said that wouldn't necessarily clear it, so I went to the icon on my desktop and tried it that way but no go.

Jumpstartme2 ( ) posted Thu, 11 October 2007 at 10:47 PM

Ok, which 'save changes' button did you use? There are 2...you should have used the one just under the text boxes...not the one all the way on the bottom.  ;)

Also, when you get the correct 'save changes' clicked, come back in here and then hit CTRL + F5....this will do a hard refresh of your browser cache ;)

See if this all works, if not we'll try something else :)
