you never know what you've got 'till it's going. Getting 'File System' errors on the Blue Screen O' Death (BSOD), so it's time to at least back up the hard drive. The last time we had the perinneal favorite 'how big is yours ? (runtime), I weighed in at a measly 430 meg. Now, I weigh in at a measley 9 gig.

I know, it's a lot to me (well, it's 3 DVDs, for one thing..;), but it does raise that little voice; "Are my runtimes backed up?" At least I started a practice of a 'used' directory

I know I've seen up to 70 gig in some people's listings, so I won't strut too much..;) But you never know when you might have to put all that somewhere besides Program Files..;)

I knew someone would catch the reference...;) i'm not Jewish, but I know some what are..;)
Actually, it's one of those 'back up yer stuff' every now and again kinda reminders I was heading for.

External hard drives, USB drives, CD/DVDs, whatever...never hurts to back up stuff. I actually backed up some to the D drive, and I made a directory of all the zip and exe files I've loaded into Poser, so that will get me most of the way back. Just got to thinking..."@#$%...that's a lot of stuff to back up"...;)

welp...waited just a bit too long..

C crapped out, lost all of Poser (loaded), and all the Runtime stuff. Bryce,  Mojoworld, Vue (yes, old version..;), Wings, etc., all down the bit bucket.

not the end of the world, but boy is it going to be a pain in the tu*hus to put it all back. If I don't post much, it'll be because I' m rebuildin'...sigh...at least I can organize my new Runtime...

at least I got some stuff backed up..;)

sounds like it is too late to say this for you but,

if you back up your entire curious labs folder somewhere (extra internal/external HD) then you only need to install the program again, and then copy over your backup version over that, that way all your content and updates come along with it, i also keep DVDs of the content I've downloaded bought/freebies,

the only thing with doing the above is, if you have made your own folders e.g "V4 stuff" "miki stuff" (all tidy like) and so on, you will have to remove the original instal content folders like "jessie", "James" and all them other "untidy" folders.

(did any of that make sense?)

anyway it is quicker to do it that way than re-installing all your stuff, i've got about 20Gb of content now i think!! and i wouldn't like to put all that back on bit by bit. I would probally rather shoot my computer and practise my extreme swearing techniques, with added foaming at mouth.

anyway sorry about your crash and we'll see you when you get back up again.

I can thoroughly recommend keeping your stuff on a mirrored RAID system. I have about 90Gb of assorted 3D assets (a huge investment of my time and money) and the RAID system has saved me from disaster twice now, so has easily paid for itself.
