I found a lot of information by doing a Google search for “making skins for Second Life”.For instance, here is a link for the templates you need.
To use them, you just paint on them, or cut and paste textures/images on them, use the clone tool to transfer an image to them, etc., etc.

yes my friend and i are goin to be creating skins on a virtual game and we need some info ...are there any self help tutorials in getting started that u know of i can look to for learning what goes behind the creation of skins in adobe...i looked up skinning but that isnt the right word for it on google...can u give me some other names it might be called....
