Subject: Pulling my hair out and banging my head on the desk!

Ok, so I bought the incredible looking "Cliff Demons Landscape Props" and am screaming to use them, but, I can't figure out where they go....I thought I did, but, apparently not.

There are .mtl files, .obj files and some jpegs.  No matter where I put them, I can't find them in Vue.  I can import them, but, I would rather have it set so they are showing on the choice menu that has the tiny little pictures.

Can anyone give a little help or advice for a newbie using Vue 6 Pro.

And, am I correct in my understanding that the entries in the folders with the "~" tilde mark is safe to delete?

Thanks for any help, ya'll, it's much appreciated

Firstly, yes the files with '~~' in the name can safely be deleted. But, no matter what you do, like weeds they'll come back again :-(

I don't think .obj files will show up in the browser. They need to be .vob files to do that. But you can load up the .obj files, assign the materials as required, then save them out as .vob files. Then you can see them in the browser (and they'll be faster to load, too).

That's correct. You must first import those models, get them set up however you wish, and then save them out as *.vob models. Then, they'll appear in your viewer. Its my understanding that you no longer need to delete those files with the tilde character. Just use the Ghost icon at the bottom of the viewer to make the display go away.

Ah, ok, well, I like to play with textures so I'll just leave them as objs and then import them when I need them, no biggie with that.  I just thought they would show up in the browser from a certain file set.

Thanks guys, appreciate the help.

OH I KNOW!!!  :woot: They went straight in my cart, they are so unique looking.  I just couldn't pass them up.  Talk about some awesome fantasy/magic imagery, and I've seen your gallery Gillbrooks, I can't wait to see what you do with them.

AW thanks :-)  I got me a new pc and so far Vue is whizzing on it so hopefully can do more intense scenery now.  Just been following a tut that was in Imagine FX mag a few months ago - this old box couldn't cope with it so I shelved it till I got something that could.

Yea, next pic will definitely have some of those wicked monster cliffs LOL!

If you save 'em as .vob files, there's nothing to stop you retexturing them afterwards.  I do that quite often
