Some of you know me, most of you don't, but I have been modelling for a while and selling my products in various places for some time trying to find that personal niche and I found I had the most fun when designing robots, mechs, vehicles, etc.

So I'm conducting a bit of a poll / product research to bring you guys something.

1 - Robots - spider bots, mechs, terminators, etc
2 - Military Vehicles - tanks, helicopters, jeeps, etc
3 - Everyday Vehicles - yugos to supras to mopeds, oh no!
4 - Fantasy Vehicles - something similar to my latest ship design or something from Final Fantasy type works
5 - Your personal design you want to send me as concept work

So in your replies, it's pretty simple, which do you like the most or want to see more of in the marketplace?  I'm kind of suggesting this as an open thing to bring Renderosity.com users an exclusive item.  I was looking through the robots in the marketplace and there just aren't alot of them and I have gotten a number of requests to move mine over from other stores to Renderosity.com (which I'm still working on).

Tell me what you think, just reply with any opinion, positive or negative and a number.  The final product will be a poser product for you guys to purchase so if this is posted in the wrong place, feel free to move it and scold me for my idiocy, but I really wanted the poser threads opinion on the matter if possible.

Thanks in advance, no I won't bite your head off if you post something like "your work sucks and I wouldn't buy a bot from you even if it was my design!"  I'll just ignore it, but ignore with all the friendliness I can muster!! :)

Enjoy, hope you all are well and I hope I can put something together for you guys.

For samples of my work, please visit the posted link.

Again, sorry if this is inappropriate for this thread and should be moved, I'm not trying to step on toes, I'm just trying to make something that people want so we all win at the end of the day..

Poser-ready houses seem to be doing well, but there aren't enough cars. There are more than enough vehicles over on Turbo Squid, but most are for MAX. If you could model some good MAX-like sports cars to be poser-ready props, I think they could do well. Hankster made a few good cars and they were quite likeable. I don't know how well 'bots and tanks will sell with the 'rosity ladies. Some guys might go for it. I suggest common and classic cars to start with, because you can find resource blueprints, images, and textures for those. With fantasy vehicles and 'bots you'll have to wing it more. The only thing you'll have to rig is the doors and wheels, the trunk and hood if you're brave. People seem to like it when you make a good car interior too.

the rigging of opening and closing doors isn't an issue really.  done far worse for some of the future of war weapons and items lol

thank you for the input!

I'm looking for post-apocalypse setting vehicles myself. Rusty, dented, nitro-fuelled, with armor options and armanent options. There are some out there, but not nearly enough.

I'm happy with the thread staying in here as long as you're gathering information and ideas and not showcasing your projects.

If you start to run with an idea and want to show example renders/rigging/mesh etc, please do that in the Developers forum.

Thanks :-)

Oh just a quick reminder as I saw someone mentioned about cars. We do not accept trademarked replica cars in the Marketplace here. So if you are doing vehicles then you'll need to go for a generic look rather than a faithful reproduction of an existing real-world car.

no, i don't have any projects on the table at the moment.  that's kind of the idea why i started this thread was to either
a) get a straight up request
or
b) get enough of an idea of what the majority of buyers are looking for.

but thank you for the info, karen, i appreciate it and I'll stay within the bounds as best I can.

Vanishing Point is covering military vehicles pretty well.

What I'd like to see (and wouldn't want to spend the time
making for myself) is old factory or office machinery.

A model Linotype would be wonderful, or a pantograph-style
engraving machine, or a Mimeograph ...

There is exactly one antique typewriter available that I know of,
but it was built for 3DS and doesn't have moving parts.

Imagination on:

Vehicles (cars, motorcycles, recreational vehicles, jet ski, hang-glider)
Common appliances (home and commercial quality)
Lamps and lighting fixtures
Specialized appliances and devices (medical, dental, surgical, lab, etc.)

Imagination off.

I could kill for a present day American style pick-up truck like a Dodge 1500 Ram, Chevy Silverado, or a Ford F-series pick up with life like moving parts i.e brake and gas pedals, steering, adjustable seats, opening and closing doors and tailate, etc. Just a plain ol pick-up truck not a work truck with the utility box build in the bed like a service truck.  No offense but sports cars are a dime a dozen and the country poser folks are screaming for pick-ups to haul their bass boats and dawgs with..LOL!

Ikendall- here's a hang glider... for free, at Content Paradise.
It even includes additional textures and a pose for V3.

Well, the kind of vehicles I'd love to see are near-future types, the kind of thing that could be used in a cyberpunk settin a la Shadowrun. Nothing too far away from current te looking eye on thedesign. Motorbikes, cars, that kind of thing - all would be most welcome.

Ditto lkendall on medical/dental.  We have several good wheelchairs and
hospital beds, but I don't think we have a dentist's office.

I'd like a good poseable koi carp, with good UV mapping. possibly a robot version, if robots are the goal in this thread, with an option to make it look like a real fish.

SamTherapy ( ) posted Tue, 30 October 2007 at 2:45 PM

Robots - something along the lines of Sorayama's Sexy Robots.  But then, I'm trying something along those lines for V4. :)

There are 3 Terminator style figures that I know of for Poser; I don't think the world is ready for another one just yet.

Other stuff - Spacecraft interiors.  Specifically, something more along the lines of the Pod and Moonbus in 2001, or anything more like NASA craft interiors, rather than the currently available ones.  For example, Coflek-Gnorg and Vanishing Point both have some excellent spacecraft interiors but they aren't what I'm looking for.  Even something similar to the Nostromo flight deck would be a step in the right direction.

European and/or Japanese style motorbikes.  There are thousands of Harley variants around but not too many good, detailed "rest of the world" bikes.  Yes, I know you can't sell 'em here but even so...

Anything that looks like the mech suits from Appleseed.  No one really seems to do stuff that look that streamlined...
