You only need injection pose builder if you used Muscle Morphs and Creature Morphs.
The base and morphs++ are preloaded to Victoria 4 if you own them (and have run the victoria 4 updater after installation.)
If your morphs are preloaded, you just need to save a normal pose file for the whole body and tell poser to "include morphs" and that will create a MOR POSE for your character to be reloaded. No need for an INJ POSE.
Save a face pose to save a face only MOR POSE. Users like to have head and body poses separate.
Anyway, I'm sure people can work it out from there :)

I hear ya, but, there are people (like me, lol) who prefer that the "face" folder be left to expressions, not INJ's. This is how I streamline it, because, if I want to, I can save a pinky pose with IPB. There's more control, IMHO, using IPB than just using Poser.

If your version of poser can't save a head only pose then you can save a face (fc2) and an fc2 can be turned into a pz2 pretty easily and it will be a head only pose :)
The point is that (unless you use the muscle or creature morphs) you don't need an INJ. INJ means injecting deltas, but because the deltas are already there you just need to pose the dials that already exist. There is no need for any other app like IPB, just use poser to save a pose. ;)
The only other time you need an INJ is if you did a custom morph from zbrush or other external app, or with the morph brush tool in poser 7... but then you need to know how to make a custom delta INJ file and you can't do that with Injection Pose Builder (which are for pre-existing INJ deltas.) You need Injection Magic or similar app, or do it by hand of course.

As I'm not aware of the specifics (I use IPB for every character I make, it's just a part of my workflow), if you could describe how to save a head-only pose, that would probably be helpful, not only to me, but to others reading this thread. There's nothing like options in ways to get from point a to point b ;)

The way I do head only poses is this..
click on Pose->addtolibrary
then in the dialog that pops up click select subset..
that brings up the hierarchy window. Uncheck world and that
will in turn uncheck everything.. Now you can scroll down to whatever body
part you want to save the pose for and make sure its checked..
Hit ok and then you'll be asked to include morphs or not.. and your done.

Yeah that's it :) Just that I couldn't recall if older versions of poser have the "select subset" when saving a pose, in which case it could(???) be easier to save a face file and convert it to a pose file. If select subset does exist, then yep just save a pose file and select the head only. :)

I just remembered why I was thinking this is best for Poser 7 only though... older versions will save joint rotations and translations ie the actual pose(position) and not just the morph dials. Poser 7 allows you to NOT save the body transforms and only the morphs.
On the bright side, I found a free app to clean those pesky poses up. Mat Pose Edit! (Why it's called that, I never found out, as it does other things too.)
There's even a tute for it already!

Here's where to get Mat Pose Edit (windows only, as far as I know, sorry)

The thing is, the INJ pose phenomenon came in with Victoria 3. After her, people forgot how to save MOR poses because ALL her morphs had to be injected before you could use them. :/
Now we have V4 and lots of other figures that don't need injection but people still make INJ poses instead of MOR poses. :/
Poser has become a lot less technical and a lot more cookie cutter over the years. But enough said on that! ;)

(P7/V4.1/Mac) And is this the way to also save an Expression I have set up but NOT the characters morph as well so that the expression can be used on other characters ? I discovered last night a fc2 saves the character morphs along with expression ..... and now I can't remember if saving a fc2 gives options for subsets 8/ Thank you in advance if you could clarify this for me.

Saving to the pose library and not including morphs will not save the expression.
Including morphs will save the expression.
Saving to the Expression library choosing subset gives the choice of choosing each morph individually.. So you can pick and choose that way.
I almost never venture into the face room, so as far as that goes I dont know.

Thank onnetz. I went and tried it out via fc2 sub sets. I'm clear ( now that I realise the head box must also be ticked as well as the relevant expression morphs. Slow, but I get there in the end. )

What a great resource and help for everyone who has been trying to learn these techniques. April, you help has been wonderful to someone just getting started! Jeni, you already know I think you ROCK! ;)
ThanX to everyone else too!

I have a question about saving poses that are already created in poser 7. Some of the poses I created save the Morph'd Character(s) just fine, and others revert her back to the V4.1 base character (*loss of face morphs & body morphs), when I don't want them too. Any suggestions on why this is occurring and 1) how to fix it, and 2) why it might be doing this?
Thak you

In fact Injection pose builder is very valuable when making expression morphs. When you save an expression as a fc2-pose and you don't uncheck all the facebuilding/character morphs, you expression morphs will set all the charactermorphs to zero and you will have you default face.
Something similar happens when you save a pose with bodymorphs.
Injection pose builder will remove all the charactersettings (including the zero settings) from your fc2-file and make and INJ and REM file of it. Very usefull !

-How can you improve things when you don't make mistakes?
What I did with V4.1 is the following:
I loaded V4.1 in poser, injected all the morphs and saved as V4.1-morphs in the same directory and used that one for Injectionpose builder and it worked!.
I haven't done that with V4.2 yet, so I don't know if it will work.

Ok, a few days ago I tried doing what is stated above, but it still didn't work with V4.2, what I found was that the !DAZ folder that contained all the delta (morph) info wasn't being read by IPB, so this is what I did....
Opened Poser & loaded V4.2, injected all the morphs & that saved this V4 to the figure library.
Opened windows explorer, copied the resulting cr2 file from step 1 to the !DAZ>Victoria 4 folder.
Opened IPB, clicked Source File, & selected the cr2 file I had moved in step 2
When parsing has finished, Click Create New - as it reads the !DAZ folder - you get a really annoying popup that says some files names are too long for MAC users & it takes forever to click through them, but persist.
Then type Victoria 4 (or whatever you want to call it) into the 2 fields.
When the next box pops up select the same cr2 as before.
When the expression box pops up, hold down Ctrl & select all the expression morphs (I opened Poser & looked at what was listed under that heading).
Click OK & finished.

Hiya and thanks for the reply
I got a little further with this now.
Since its difficult to explain and a little different from this thread, i started a new thread with the question:
Can READSCRIPT used in a CR2 file, import PZ2 file character?
