Subject: Expressions resetting head morphs

I have this problem, I get an awesome expression made up, save it in the 'expressions' folder. go to use it on another figure, but everytime I do, it resets my figures's head to vickie's standard head.  I set the pose with the standard head, is there a step I'm missing?

I only just found this out the other day myself - If you just do a straight save in the Expressions library it is actually saving the head morphs along with the expression you have made . To ONLY save the expression you need to click on the SUB-SETS button in the save window which appears after you click + , then the universe box in the drop-down which has now opened. That will turn ALL head morphs off. Then turn on 'head' and then any of the expression morphs you want to keep. Don't forget to turn 'head' back on in the list.... I did for a day and still couldn't understand why my expressions weren't saving.

Yup.  It's like the problem people used to have with standard poses when they saved morph channels with the pose. Very annoying when it happens.

When you just select the head if you want to save an expression, it also saves the "zeroed" channels (Morphdials), so when you apply the expression it turns  every dial that's not used in the expression to zero leaving you with the default face. Injection pose-builder, a program sold by  DAZ3D, can be used to repair your expressions and make INJ and REM thumbnails for it. The original version doesn´t come with V4 support, but I believe there was a thread some days ago how to import that. It can also be used for poses.

Best regards,

thanks for the help on this one, I ended up having to remake the entire expression I was trying to save and do it all from scratch, looks like one more problem solved :P

One of my pet peeves is that this happens on items purchased from the market place. It's really annoying paying for something, only to then have to go and edit the .fc2 files.

Merchants - not mentioning any names just yet - please take note!

Oh, and I hate how some poses (commercial again) move the whole body back to zeroed XYZ co-ordinates. And how soemtimes they affect the position of (prop) hair. This is just sloppy.

I have to admit, that's a pet peeve of mine too regarding bought packs with expressions etc

I spose one is able to contact the merchant or marketplace help forum and ask to have the pack corrected however its usually more time consuming getting something done about it than the tedious task of just editing the files yourself; you purchase something coz you want to be able to use it, not spend days messing around trying to have it fixed before its properly usable.

Whilst i do think the onus is on the merchants when producing an expression/pose pack, i do also wonder why its not picked up in product testing before its released.  Sloppy on both counts i think.

I can tell you why - because we would usually just load the specified figure and then apply the expressions. However, you raise a good point and it's one I'll point out to the testing team.
