Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 18 7:53 am)
Hi there, it may be easier for you to load your OBJ into Poser and then do a MAT file.
If you are using a texture file, you can just change the diffuse to white and use a Image node.
Then just save the file in the Figures section, then create a MAT file from it for it to work in Poser.
All the best.

Guess I'll need some help on this since I can't figure it out. Can you give me a step by step tut on how to do what you advised above? I can change all the Diffuse color to white-- but i dont see the IMAGE NODE you are refering to. In the ADVANCED part of the Materal room- I see that a COLOR TEXTURE node has been created. Is this what you mean?-- Or do I have to add something else here? I also dont see how to save this to the FIGURES file-- unless you mean export a PZ3 file to the POSER/RUNTIME/FIGURES folder---which seems to have a few default-poser files in it-- and not the right place to send this export... lastly-- creating the MAT files for poser (if I can get to that stage) eludes me also... Hope you don't mind explaining step-by-step... regards TD

Items created in MAYA with textures look fine. Then when they are exported to OBJ (with MTL and Textures) --and imported by POSER7--- the item/s are initially BLACK. Looking at the textures in the MATERIAL ROOM-- I can see that the DIFFUSE COLOR is BLACK. Resetting the DIFFUSE COLOR to WHITE for all textures manually fixes the problem. My questions are: Why are they importing that way on a global basis in the first place? Why is the Diffuse Color black when it is not black in the program that created the item? How can I get the DIFFUSE COLOR set in POSER to be WHITE by default? thanks
