The nomination threads for the Delphi Bryce Forum's 10th Annual Golden Tori Awards for Bryce Excellence have now been posted. But before I give you the relevant links, a few FAQs for those who have never heard of us. This is an annual event hosted by The Delphi Bryce Forum to honor artists, websites and individuals who have, in the minds of Brycers everywhere on the Web, shown by their example, just how good this beloved program of ours truly is. During the month of November, nominations are accepted, in a number of different categories; then in December, those nominees are voted on. After the voting, the Delphi Bryce Forum holds an online chatroom **PARTY** during January (at the time of our anniversery) to award the winners in each category with the recoginition they deserve. For this year's nominations, the following rules apply: 1) Eligible pictures are those made with Bryce (usually as the primary program, but in many cases, other programs used in conjunction with Bryce, are also allowed to be nominated..check the notes for each category for any restrictions). 2) Eligible pictures are those made/posted online between December 1st, 2006 and November 30th, 2007. (In other words, from the *end* of last year's nomination period, and the end of this year's. 3) Due to the owerwhelming response at last year's nomination period, we are reverting to an older rule not used in the last few years. In order for a nominee/picture to go to the voting ballot, *two* nominations are needed...a primary nomination **and** a second to that same nomination. The second nom must come from another member. This should ensure that an image/artist is truly considered the BEST by as many people as possible. 4) Nominations need to be made by a member of the Delphi Forum. [Membership signups are free...but there is a catch. Delphi, unlike 3D Commune, Renderosity, or DAZ, is NOT a marketplace-funded forum site. Therefore, the free membership signups come with a major, and usually very disliked, dose of ads. Many would-be members have shied away because of this problem. The ads; we cannot fix. But, we can offer a work-around. If you are extremely bothered by a barrage of advertisements, send **ME** an IM or post a message in this thread (membername=Rosemaryr), and I can post a *proxy* nomination for you.] Luckily, one of our members has access to his university's IT department, and they are allowing him to construct a voting site, *off* of Delphi. This will make the voting portion of this event much easier for all to do. ---------------------------------- Now on to the promised links:

A few FAQs: 1) Eligible pictures are any pictures made using Bryce; made and posted online from December 1, 2006 up to November 30, 2007. (In other words, from the end of last year's eligibility period, to the end of nominations this year.) 2) When making the nominations, please include the URL of the picture, the title of the picture, and the artist's name (online nickname is okay, if real name is unknown). 3) This year, due to the enormous amount of entries received last year, we will ask for a second (by some other forumite) to a nomination, in order for a nominee/picture go to the voting ballot. If placing a 'second', PLEASE indicate the specific item being seconded, by again using the URL, picture title, and artist's name. 4) Nominations will be accepted from November 1, 2007 until November 30. Once a thread has a "CLOSED FOR NOMINATIONS" massage added, no more nomination entries will be counted. If any comments or questions about the process/system are needed, ask them in THIS thread, in order to keep the actual nominations threads tidy. Thanks to all for participating! Thanks to Rosemaryr for this headsup!

Artists should be aware however that we - the Cardinals - will be watching very closely for those who have been using Hertical Applications!

You know the fate that awaits you.

Wow, another Bryce forum, have to check this out. :-)

Rosemaryr ( ) posted Sat, 03 November 2007 at 6:44 AM

I see I forgot to mention in the FAQs, about some of the needed facts. "New Brycer" = someone who has used Bryce for less than one year... You can nominate yourself, or your own pictures, for a category. In fact this is the best way for us to -find- the new Brycers out there! We will try to contact artists whose work has been nominated, so they don't happen to take the work down off the Web. Sometimes (as has happened for example, at 3DC during the Great Gallery Cleanup) people will remove an image during the course of the year, which can lead to dead links. We will try to avoid that fate whenever possible.

Nope! Won't nominate myself. And Cardinals never get nominated.
Too many heretics out there to vote for us Cardinals anyway.

Well I would nominate you Brycer, but I am slightly better than you, and as i'm not renowned for blowing my own trumpet, I wouldn't nominate myself either. But, if you want to nominate me, please feel free. :-)

dhama: Better than me at what exactly? It wouldn't be spelling judging by the way you spelt my name.

Judging by how non-Delphi members struggle with moving through the threads containing all the "Eye on the Tori 2007" message thread, where only one message can be seen at a time, and the plethora of adverts, one of our regulars has compiled and created a simple page containing all the candidates page links. It can be found at http://hamfast.bryce-alive.net/allcandidates.html and contains all 181 individual messages in the Thread. I hope that helps you poor folk that want to see the candidates and make nominations but have been discouraged by Delphi's "non-member" interface. (The "Eyes on the Toris" thread is one where we keep a running bookmark of notible images from the year...helps tremendously when trying to find or recall great images from earlier in the year.)

I guess I get confused easily... this whole 10th Annual Golder Tori Nominations and the Delphi Forums is kinda of sonfusing.

Rosemaryr ( ) posted Tue, 13 November 2007 at 9:14 AM

(hands analog a chocolate-chip cookie....) "There, there, it's okay to be confused. We still love ya!" Delphi Forums is an old Bryce forum, been around since nearly the beginning. The Tori Awards is our way of recognizing great art made during the year. Since our forum doesn't have the traffic that R'ostiy, 3DC or DAZ has (due to being a non-commercial site) we simply announce the Awards in places where Bryce artist hang out.

Once again, a nomination category got left out: BEST USE OF TEXTURES http://forums.prospero.com/n/mb/message.asp?webtag=bryce&msg=10227.1 It's been added to the list now. My humblest apologies to all. And in additon, this bump will act as a two week reminder: You have until the end of November to enter nominations.
