Subject: hair fit?

raphys2006 ( ) posted Thu, 15 November 2007 at 8:24 PM · edited Wed, 05 February 2025 at 1:56 PM

hi everybody,

here my question: what is a hair fit and how does it work?

I have  mIki1020 and some hair fits for miki, when i select the hair fit and double click to apply, nothing happens to the figure, no hair...
did i miss something? (obsviously yes) i am a big noob about hair fit, if somebody can help me, i ve been looking for old threads and tutorials but didn t find anything about....

thanks for your help!

First you have to use the hair (that doesn´t fit Miki figure) and then click the matching fit-mat

well you mean i find first apply a hair style or hair pose before a hair fit?

i must use any hair that not belong to miki model?

Hair is fitted perfectly for certain models. So if you want that same hair for a model you have, but it's not made for, you'd get the hair first. Then you get the "hair fit". Now the hair will attach itself perfectly to the model you have.

That "hair fit" thing got me too. LOL

Hair fit's are simply POSE files for fitting hair created for other figures to the figure in question. Say you have a Hair fit for AprilSH's Rievel Hair and you wan to fit it to James. You would need to either fit the hair by hand using the translation dials or have a POSE file which would fit the hair to the unsupported James figure. A Hair Fit Pose does NOT include the actual hair geometry. It is just a pose file and you will need the original item for the fit to work.

Here's an example. Let's say you want miki to wear Diva hair.
Load Miki. Then open the folder that has Diva hair in it. This would be located in either your HAIR library or Character library. Load that hair into your scene.
Then conform that hair to Miki. It will look really weird at this point.
Now open up your Pose library and open the folder with the Diva hair fit for miki.
Take a quick look to be sure Diva hair is  still selected in your scene. Then click on the hair fit in your pose file.

The fit files in the pose library tell the hair WHAT to do, they don't make the hair.

I got it! thanks for your answer.. geez hope i ll find the original geometry files related to the fit hair... not going to be easy!

thanks again for your answer.

No hon, you don't need to go looking  for the actual geometry. Just look for the hair in either your hair or character libraries. Clicking on  picture there activates a little script that loads the geometry for you.

Now, what hair are you trying to fit to Miki? And is it a hair you own, or do you just have the fit pose for it?

i have the fbz hair fit pack for miki and have only the original hair style from Miki1020... i can t do anything  with both of them...

by the way i finished my first WIP asian here the picture:

there s only 3 hair style included with miki1020... i thought the hair fit from fbz would give me more hair for miki.. i ve got wrong :P so yah i have to find other hair style first!

i can make hair on my own (if it s not a too complicated style) i am just feeling lazy to do it again and again, hair group, grown, style, dynamic and everything...

OK, I see your problem. The Firebirdz set is a set of fits for hair made by other people. You would need to obtain the actual hair products to get the fits to work.

If you look at the store promo you will see that some items have to be bought. This means the hairs listed under RDNA, DAZ, and Rendo.

But some are free, so you need to go to those sites, download and install those hairs. Then the fits for those hairs will work.

Koz hair, the link to the download page is on the right side of the front page.

Short question - is Kozaburo´s Homepage down? I can´t get this site since a few days. I´ve just tried it 2 or 3 days ago, and also now with your link the site timed out only.

Hmm, I haven't had any problem with his site. Maybe it's geographical.
Here's the link to one of his mirror sites.
