I'm working on a tutorial and it says that I should change the brush brightness to 82% how do I do this?

That's not something I've seen before... do they mean colour dynamics?

Can you give some other context?

macatelier ( ) posted Thu, 15 November 2007 at 7:04 PM

Maybe the mean the opacity?

Heztia ( ) posted Thu, 15 November 2007 at 7:08 PM · edited Thu, 15 November 2007 at 7:09 PM

This is excatlly what the step tells me

  1. Now we're going to rough in some texture into this using NagelSeries27-19. I'm going to set the brightness of my color down to 82 percent, create a new layer and then simply draw on the canvas to get as much coverage as possible without completely losing my underlying color.

Sounds like opacity to me.

Heztia ( ) posted Thu, 15 November 2007 at 7:32 PM

I thought that and tried it but,  if the base layer is "pink" and I change the opacity it dosen't show anything.  I tried the Colour Dymanics in the brush tab but then the brush comes out a grayish colour.

i though opacity too, but looking at the screencaps, you can see the "active" layer is set to 100% so i'm not sure what they mean.

there is a "brightness/contrast" setting in the "adjustment layer"s but again, i don't see that in the screencaps.

can you email the author?? (didn't think to see the creation date of the tut!!!)

sorry

I did try emailing the author but I have yet to hear anything from him.  Thanks though I guess I'll have to keep playing with it and hope for the best!

Yup, that's what I thought too, that he just reduced the brightness of his color a bit before he started painting.  He's not saying he's changing the brightness of the brush, he says:  "I'm going to set the brightness of my color down to 82 percent"

I've been working on it and it's coming along good my only problem is trying to make it seemless for v4.  But the skin look's good for my 1st attempt at painting skin.

I thought you all might like to see my progress.  I still have some tweeking to do and I'm trying to put real eyebrows on her but for now I did some fantasy make -up and I haven't gotten suitible nipples yet but this is what I have so far.  It's still not seemless but it's coming along.  I want to add more detail to her face and different areas to her body.  Feed back would be great ;0)

I like the Tat! I would scale back the lashes a tiny bit. But that is just so that there is a conflict with most of the hairs out there. Other than that it is comming along great!
