Subject: Why when i create a Fullbody morph, dial only changes face?

tebop ( ) posted Fri, 23 November 2007 at 8:53 PM · edited Sat, 01 February 2025 at 11:05 AM

Is this a bug in Poser SR 3 for mac? It should work. Here's what i'm doing. 1)Load a v3 figure i bought from renderosity. i tell you who it is "Margot for v3" 2)Select body and go to FIgure menu and select Create full body morph 3) Use Wardrobe Wizard to reset all morphs to 0.0. I have WWizard 2.0 and it has this little function so i used it. but you could also just use the RESET FIGURE thing in poser 4)Now all morphs are zero.. and then the Margot morph is 0.0. I change it to 1 and IT does change the head to margot's face, but not the body. that's weird cause i chose CREATE FULL BODY MORPH....i didn't choose the head only Anyone know what's going on?

You make me laugh. LOL

tebop ( ) posted Fri, 23 November 2007 at 9:03 PM

is it because it's an easy thing to do? then would you help?

SSAfam1 ( ) posted Fri, 23 November 2007 at 9:11 PM · edited Fri, 23 November 2007 at 9:13 PM

Oh no...not laughing at your lack of knowledge. I'm in the same boat. I can just sense you're alittle 'stressed' over this.  I so know how it feels wanting to get something everyone else has down. I don't have WW so I can't help. I wish I could though.

SoCalRoberta ( ) posted Fri, 23 November 2007 at 9:50 PM

I am having exactly the same problem. It;s getting frustrating.

pjz99 ( ) posted Fri, 23 November 2007 at 9:57 PM · edited Fri, 23 November 2007 at 9:57 PM

These aren't things everyone has down at all, they're actually quite complicated and people underestimate how hard things can be.  The short answer is: this doesn't work for DAZ figures, although it works (sometimes incorrectly!) for EF figures.  FBMs for DAZ figures seem to be done via CR2 editing.

What a Full Body Morph dial actually does behind the scenes is automatically spin all the individual morph target dials on each bodypart.  This is called ERC (Extended Remote Control).  You can add one of these yourself, or work with some utility like DAZ Injection Pose Builder (I think IPB does this) to do it for you.

So then, if we need to create FUll body morphs to use Modified Base characters in WW2.. and who wants to convert clothes to the base V3 anyways. Most people here use and buy v3 characters made by people and sold here in Renderosity. So then, it means we can't make clothes for modified base figures?? In ww1 you could do it. so why not ww2?

tebop ( ) posted Fri, 23 November 2007 at 10:07 PM

If WWizard 2 can't make clothes for modified base figures, meaning ALL THE CHARACTERS SOLD AT RENDEROSITY( Cause all are modifications of v3, miki, etc) then, it would be pretty bad marketting of WWizard 2, cause 2 implies an improvement over 1 and WW 1 could do what we're trying to do( Except it wasn't perfect, but at least it did it ). We should get a kind of fix to this soon.

tebop ( ) posted Fri, 23 November 2007 at 10:10 PM

Wait a second... Windows users claim they can do it with no problem. Some people who were windows users, answered my other thread and said they had great results with various figures. Then is it only mac that can't do FBmorphs?

SoCalRoberta ( ) posted Fri, 23 November 2007 at 10:13 PM · edited Fri, 23 November 2007 at 10:14 PM

So the WW2 instructions won't work with anything other than the basic poser people?
How irritating.

tebop, I have Windows and I'm having the same problem you are.

tebop ( ) posted Fri, 23 November 2007 at 10:18 PM

I guess and that would be such a bad marketing, unless the purchase would include freebie utilities that could help with this. And yes the conversion from Base figure to base figure works great. i did Jersey dress for v3 converted to Base Miki. and it worked. But i'm mean, who wants clothes for base figures.

tebop ( ) posted Fri, 23 November 2007 at 10:23 PM

Ok well pjz99, at least thanks for the info. I saw the daz utility... it's like 20 dollars... so, then WW1 upgrade to WW2 was not as expensive....but then i have to buy this utility so i didn't save nothing really

SoCalRoberta ( ) posted Fri, 23 November 2007 at 10:30 PM

The DAZ injection pose builder is only $1.99 if you area Platinum Club member.

The problem remains the same. I tried with one of my characters and still no FBM.

SSAfam1 ( ) posted Fri, 23 November 2007 at 10:31 PM

I think Bnetta was using V3 in her image and she got the morphs to work....

SoCalRoberta ( ) posted Fri, 23 November 2007 at 10:39 PM

She was. But how the Sam Hill was she doing it?? I have tried every variation I can think of, and still only the dang head responds to the FBM  :cursing:

tebop ( ) posted Fri, 23 November 2007 at 10:41 PM

aaaaaaaaa!!!! i'm so stressed out now. Daz injection pose bulider doesn't work either, according to SoCalRoberta and i trust her so i guess i shouldn't buy it. i was about to buy it he he he he. thank god i didn't find my daz password and can't remember it

Just do yourself a favor and read up on how ERC works, it will explain MANY MANY THINGS that will otherwise be mysterious (like how eyeballs move around when you change the eye morphs on the head, and why they will not be included when you spawn a morph target for the head).

Specific questions about Wardrobe Wizard ought to be addressed to Phil Cooke, he is tremendously helpful in all respects and will surely help you out.

Not having "Margot for v3" I can only guess at what is going on.

One possibility comes to mind. It's a bit hard to explain, but I'll try.

First we have to understand a little of how a FBM works. Put simply, when I make a FBM, Poser looks at all the individual morph (targetGeom) channels in the figure, if a channel has a non-zero value it is slaved to the master FMB (valueParm) channel in the BODY, if its value is zero it is not slaved (is not included as part of the FBM).

Another fact, you can't spawn a FBM from a FBM. If you apply A FBM, then try to make another FMB, the new FBM does nothing. A FBM can only be made if you first set the individual morphs in the individual body parts.

Now what might be happening is that the "Margot for v3" character is seting values for the head morphs directly in the individual channels, but is using a FBM dial in the BODY to set the rest of the morphs in other body parts. Another factor that may come into play is that some character injections use scale channels, and scale channels won't be included in a FBM.

I'm just guessing that this is the problem, without seeing all the files involved it's hard to say for sure.

I can understand that you are feeling frustrated, I think anyone who uses Poser ends up feeling frustrated a lot of the time, but perhaps it's a little unfair to blame Wardrobe Wizard. In your first post you seem to be saying a FBM you made in Poser is not working, so shouldn't you blame Poser?

EdW ( ) posted Sat, 24 November 2007 at 1:20 AM · edited Sat, 24 November 2007 at 1:22 AM

From my experience,  and I'm not 100% sure that this is the problem...I don't remember this being a problem in versions before 7 either, but in Poser 7 when you set body morphs like for the breasts, waist, hips etc using the BODY PBMs or FBMs no actual morph data is set that Poser will use to create the FBM. Those dials are working on multiple body parts and Poser seems to use the value of the corresponding parameter dial in the body parts, not values in the "BODY"..... ie you set BreastSize6 is "1" in the BODY, so Poser ignores it when creating the FBM or PBM.

If the parmeters were set on the actual body part then morph data would be saved. The morph data for the head is saved since the parameters on the head were changed. I ran into this with a V3 character I developed to use in some of my animations. I wanted to lighten up the cr2 so I thought I'd just spawn a FBM and be able to strip out all the morphs I didn't need.... well to my surprise I ended up with a great head morph and no body morph just like you did. I ended up having to go through each body part and set the parameters then spawn the FBM again to get it to work.

So i should go to each body part and spawn? But i don't get how to do this. aren't all the morphs for each body part already spawned in the v3 character? So if my v3 character is a modified character, i should set all morphs to 0.0 so she will end up looking like v3 base figure. Then modify all the morphs and then Create the full body morph? However, that would mean that i'm making my own v3 character..but i want to use the ones i bought from renderosity. how do i do what you said for them?

No just set the morphs in the body parts...you don't need to spawn morphs in each body part
if the FBM or PBM is set to .5... set it at .5 for the body parts that PBM uses... BreastSize uses the chest and both collars... so set the morph in those body parts. It will take some time.. then create your FBM:)

tebop ( ) posted Sat, 24 November 2007 at 9:12 AM

Ok i guess i don't get it . Margot is a made v3 character and has morphs already set to some values..so if i change them, as you say, that will change her body. so she will not be margot anymore . Hey we're getting somewhere EdW.. just that i'm slow, so i don't get what you're saying.

EdW ( ) posted Sat, 24 November 2007 at 1:39 PM

I guess I didn't explain myself too well

Look at the FBMs and PBMs in the BODY and note the setting of the master dial... then go to the body parts which are used by that PBM and set the dials according to what the master dial in the BODY is set at... and set the Master in the BODY to "0".

If the morphs are set in the body part (hip, abdomen, etc)  you are ok... don't mess with them.... just the ones that are set in the BODY. Any non zero dial in the BODY needs to be set in each of the body parts. I will take you a little time to do... and you will need a little patience.

With all the body parts morphs set, you should have Margot:).... then create your full body morph.... and remember if you have any facial expression set it will be saved in the morph.

After you have your full body morph... you need to zero out all the body part morphs.. and set your full body morph.. If all went as planned you will have Margot again:)

tebop ( ) posted Sat, 24 November 2007 at 1:47 PM

Sounds good. i will try it

tebop ( ) posted Sat, 24 November 2007 at 3:04 PM

Hey EdW.. wow,!!! finally . YOur technique did work. I created my margot morph. then i tested it by setting it to -1 and now all the body turns to V3 base. and at 0 it turns to margot:) Tha'ts awesome. ok, now i will be ready to use wwizard 2. Sorry for getting alittle mad , but this was never explained anywhere.

wdupre ( ) posted Sat, 24 November 2007 at 3:15 PM

as I recall Before P7 Poser ignored Full body morph dials in the body and only picked up the individual bodypart morphs(V4 was created with a little trick to get around that problem and will save full body morphs in a pose file in any version of Poser), P7 rectified that and now will recognize the full body morphs. but in the past the only way to save a full body morph in most figures was to resave the figure with morphs, then use something like the free MatPoseEdit to extract the Mor Pose.

Hi tebop,

I've been trying to answer all your post in the various forums but I apparently did not spot this one, sorry.  I thought I was following your question in one of your threads (In WWizard 2, How do you convert TO V3 Morphed Characters?) but it looks like you have rephrased the question in a new thread which may explain why I missed it.

My final post in your original thread was a request for more information or if possible a copy of the file (or something that we could both use) so that we could work through this together. That was the last post in that thread so I'm guessing you started a new one to get a fresh audience. Not unreasonable, but unfortunately the guy with the answers missed the switch. Again sorry.

I know that this works, (as do a lot of other folks), my task here is to help you learn how to use what you have in front of you to achieve the results you require.

In other posts asking very similar questions I have been replying thus:-

GENERALLY the solution to using V4 is to load her into the Poser scene, ensure that the Poser option to use external binary morph targets is turned OFF and resave her to the library. Then use that version of her with Wardrobe Wizard 2. There will still be some issues with some of the breast controls but I'm looking into this.

Apollo is similar, the solution is both similar and simple.

So again .... I request is it possible for you to send me a copy of the file that you are using or something that we may both use as a common factor so that you and I can work this through step by step.

Thanks.

Hey PhilC. thaks alot for your help and thanks to everyone . I GOT IT!!! Now it works, now i know how to use WW2. I did what EdW told me on how to get the Full body morph. then i analyzed, then i converted the clothes. and then to use it i load the figure, load the converted clothes, set the dial of the full body morph that i made to 1.0 and it changes the shape to my characters shape: ) then since in my created margot figure which i further modified from the original margot by doing xScale hip to 111%... So in the converted dreess i also did hip xscale 111 and now it fits. Very nice: ) here is a picture to show you. this is v3 hongyu's jersey dress changed to fit Margot v3 character.

wdupre ( ) posted Sat, 24 November 2007 at 5:25 PM

Phil those breast controls you are talking about I assume are the breast movement dials, which are not actually morphs but magnet controllers, you dont have to worry about those becouse they get appplied to the clothing with the v4 magnetize poses.

Wonderful,

May I crave an indulgence. Would you be so good as to go back over all your previous threads passing on to all those other readers your new found knowledge because currently they are all of the opinion that Wardrobe Wizard is flawed in some way and it does not work. Because you told them as much.

I'm sure that they will thank you for the time that you will save them when you pass on this information.

I am sure that you would not want to leave them with a false impression so I know that I can count on you.

Thank you
