Subject: 2 Weird Problems in WardrobeWizard 2 for mac, anyone one else have them?

tebop ( ) posted Sat, 24 November 2007 at 4:04 PM · edited Thu, 30 January 2025 at 4:39 PM

I'm finally getting the hang of WWizard 2, after stressing alot. Ok well, but there's 2 bugs or things i'm experiencing 1. When doing clothes conversion using plug in. After the analysis of the clothes is done and you get a message syaing it's done..then another message says .X minutes remaining... That means it finish the analysis, now it's going to do the conversion. But it gets stuck and nothing happens. 2. The WW 2 standalone is in demo mode and even though i bought it, i don't know how to make it full.. and where should i install the application so that it sees the serial.dat file? I tried using it and it says it's still DEMO. i even dropped it in the same folder as the WW 2 plugin PY file .

BAR-CODE ( ) posted Sat, 24 November 2007 at 4:13 PM

did you put the serial dat in the WW2 SA folder ?

I think you realy need to start reading the manulas and help file of the product you uses...
Saying something has a BUG is a big statement ...
Specialy when you didnot read all the info given to you online of in pdf files..

In other words when it does not work go to PhilC site and ask him..
I ahve WW 2 working fine on my XP VISTA and my Intel MAC ..so it works!

Ever since I got a user question regarding the Mac installation I have been including this screen shot with the registration email. Was one attached to yours or were you one of the very early ones?

Did it help clarify?

Hi. on a mac, 1- the conversion is happening even though it seems nothing is happening. Let it run. It is not stuck.(unless of course hours turn into days...) 2- For serial; Contol-click the app and choose "show package content" Copy the serial dat to the resources folder, start the app.

tebop ( ) posted Sat, 24 November 2007 at 4:23 PM

oh ok... now it works. my problem number 1, it just took a long time to write a message on the python window. I'll try to fix the WW2 SA issue i have. i'm sure it's easy, as you say. thanks

tebop ( ) posted Sat, 24 November 2007 at 4:31 PM

HAWK999, i couldn't get it to work. It's still the demo because the only Figures in the convert from and to are P4 male, p4 Posette, and P5 don and Judy. I put the serial dat in the resources folder. ***ONe questin i have.. is do i have to send my details and get a separate SERIAL DAT file for Wizard 2 standalone, which is separate from the plugin serial dat?

For myself I found that new applications got easier with practice. I also found that they got easier faster and with less frustration if I took the trouble to actually read the instructions :)

tebop ( ) posted Sat, 24 November 2007 at 4:36 PM

ohh wait....maybe it's not the demo but i have to also install all lof the supported figures also to the Resourrces/ DATA folder of the Standalone app? I mean, all the ones that came in zip files in the download: v3, m3, freak, etc etc.... the's like 800. so do i put them in the WWIzard 2 standalone Resourcesfolder/DATA folder?

Yes you have to put all the supported figures in
Wardrobe Wizard 2.0/Contents/Resources/data/
where
Wardrobe Wizard 2.0 is the application package.

PhilC ( ) posted Sat, 24 November 2007 at 5:15 PM

If you are doing the upgrade thing yes you need to follow the upgrade paragraph in the instructions.

Yes you need to install all the files, again following the instructions. All the support files go into the data folder. See the above screen shot.

If there is anything else could you please email me directly. I try to keep up with your many and various forum threads and I'm greatful to those folks who have pitched in to help answer but its not a very efficient use of your time.

If there are ANY outstanding issues please email me at pcooke@philc.net

Thanks.

tebop, glad it's working out

tebop ( ) posted Sat, 24 November 2007 at 7:53 PM

Ok I got one problem. It's with the standalone Wardrobe wizard on mac. The ..... button for source clothing works fine. But the one for Target library doesn't work. It should take me to browse for the directory i want but it doesn't. i get this error if i push it. Exception in Tkinter callback Traceback File Tkinter.pyc line 1345, in call etc etc ERROR> TclError badd directory Philc, any solutions for this?

tebop ( ) posted Sat, 24 November 2007 at 8:05 PM

Ok so a workaround to that is just enter the Directory manually starting with "APPLICATIONS/Poser6/RUNTIMe..." etc But i'm noticing other weird things, for example there is no Question "Which morphs do you want to keep?" or which morphs you want to transfer. Instead i just get a window with a list of morphs. Also when analyzing, i get a list. and i'm not sure if i have to select them or not . when i click on them they get a bit highlighted....

You really should be contacting Phil Cooke directly as he asked you to...

Hm, it sounds like Tkinter is barfing on a settings.txt file. Delete the settings.txt file in your current directory, and restart Wardrobe Wizard - it should start fine then.

PhilC ( ) posted Sun, 25 November 2007 at 4:42 AM

"But I'm noticing other weird things, for example there is no Question "Which morphs do you want to keep?" or which morphs you want to transfer. Instead i just get a window with a list of morphs. "

So you selected the check boxes and then during the conversion process you were presented with the lists from which you make your selection? I'm not quite sure I understand your problem. You expected to be presented with a list immediately you selected the checkbox?

"Also when analyzing, i get a list. and I'm not sure if i have to select them or not . when i click on them they get a bit highlighted...."

It is a standard list select box. Left mouse button to select one. Command+click to select several, Shift+click to select a block. Your selected items get highlighted, I believe on mouse over the item gets underlined to help you identify exactly which item you are over.

Phil,,,,well all i'm saying is the Standalone Wizard app acts weird. 1. Pressing the .... button for the target creates this error. 2. In the plug in in poser when you get the list of morphs to include and to transfer, the window presents you with a question as to which morphs you want to transfer or keep...but in the standalone, a window just pops up...In other words, it brings up a window with morphs but it doesn't tell me what i need to do with that list. I kinda know now cause i've been using the plug in but still, it would be nice if that window had a question or something saying "Select the morphs you want" 3. some people say the standalone app is faster than the plug in, well tome it seems more sluggish and with more errors. But anyways, i'll just stick to the Plug-in in poser. First pic is error when i push the ..... button for the target directory.

2nd pic is the window i get when analyzing a figure. You see, it's just a list, doesn't tell me what it wants me to do with it

PhilC ( ) posted Sun, 25 November 2007 at 8:15 AM

I'll see if it is possible to include a title "Please select from list" for those Mac folks who are not sure what to do when a list is presented to them.

Thank you for bringing this oversight to my attention.

We have found that some find the plugin faster or easier to use than the stand alone. Conversly others prefer the stand alone to the plugin. My advice to all is to use the one that works for you. They both do the same job. The data files are interchangable between them both.

I am looking into why you are getting that directory error. Are you logged in as the administrator? Did you install it when you were logged in as the administrator? Where did you install to?

Thanks.

tebop ( ) posted Sun, 25 November 2007 at 8:29 AM

Yes i'm the admin, i'm the only who uses this comp. My wardrobe wizard is in my Macintosh HD. in a folder i made called PURCHASES.

Welcome to my world, Phil! :)

Sometimes the differences between GUI, file paths, and implementation between Windows and MacOS can be down-right frustrating.  Been there, still there.

C makes it easy to shoot yourself in the foot. C++ makes it harder, but when you do, you blow your whole leg off.

Yep :)

Also tricky when its obviously working fo the vast majority but not the one or two. (I only know of two). We then need to look at how the user installed it etc.

tebop what was the full path of the folder or file that you were trying to select? Do you get this error with all paths/files?

The Mac limitation on length of path names still occurs sometimes.
