Subject: convert .br6 files to .psd files

menschtx ( ) posted Tue, 27 November 2007 at 11:34 AM · edited Fri, 15 November 2024 at 9:40 AM

When trying to import a scene from bryce 6.1 to photoshop I find an error message about the scene needing to be a photoshop file or format. I have searched google and can't seem to find a simple answer. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Uuuuh...which version of Adobe PhotoShop® would that be?..CS3,CS2,CS,PS7?....what are you trying to do to this scene?...if you just want to post process it render the scene and save as a .bmp, which is bigger than a .jpg but it's a lossless file type and will retain all the info you render, and open that in Adobe PhotoShop®. It would really help to answer your question if we knew what you were wanting to do in Adobe PhotoShop® so a bit more detail would help.. ...

.br6 files are scene files proprietary to Bryce 6 - much like the scene files for any other 3d program they are not intended to be converted directly to a 2d format (or another 3d format for that matter).

If you were to render a 3d scene in Bryce you could choose which 2d format to render to ...

Also Infranview (sp) will convert most 2d formats to other 2d formats.

(any corrections to what I've just said are welcome - I'd love to be proved wrong here ! ! ! )

Sorry, bikermouse....no corrections available...you are quite correct in your explanation.

A Bryce scene (.br6 file) would have to be rendered, in Bryce, to create a 2d image, which can then be used in Photoshop.

So after rendering a scene in bryce 6 I then should save it as a .psd - photoshop 7 or as a .bmp and then again from what I've read .tiff is a better way. Of course I choose to be corrected since your like my mentors.
Another question - which is better .bmp or vector, or is it called raster?

Attached Link: wikipedia link

If Br 6 exports as a .psd use that as you're going to use it in PS and as an added benefit it is also a *lossless* format so there should be minimal if any artifacts. Hope that helps. To bone up on formats I'd recommend reading the attached link.. ...
