Not necessarily. For someone like me who makes a living modelling, a top-notch mapping program is essential. I use UVLayout and it cost me well over $300 but was worth every cent.

I guess it's all about perspective :)

That make you / them a PRO in my book... doing it profesional ... hence the name PRO 😉

Why don't you try to download a demo version of the Fairy Edition ? Just to compare :)
For less than $250, you have a better unwrapper, faster than UVLayout and you get very nice UVs with Unfold3D

I was thinking about doing that :) It's just such a pain trying to find the time to learn new software.
