Hi!

I am looking either for free or merchant resources of asian textures.I am not interested in pattern textures (wich often tend to be very simplistic).I am looking for scenery like or "bird on a branch" type of textures, textures that can be used alone without the need to be repeated.
I have only one such texture from the kwright treasures merchant resource, but I was unable to find another one.The file is BambooandBirds.jpg (in case you have it too, so you will know what I am looking for).The product is here : http://market.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/index.php?ViewProduct=27361&vendor=kandeewright
Look at the bottom left corner of the first promo image, there is a texture with a bird.That type of textures I am looking for.

Have you tyred doing a search for Asian Fabric patterns on any of the main search engines?

you might be able to get permision to use some of the samples if you ask.

Yes, write to some of the fabric sites and seek permission.

I wrote to a few of them and told them what I was wanting to use them for and included an example to show them.  They were all very nice and granted permission.

From the sample tiles I created some really large tiles of 1024 x 1024 and larger.  I looked at the right edge of the  pattern sample, and  then found a matching image towards the left side or middle. I  then copied the layer and on the layer copy, cut away everything to the left of the image I wanted to match. Then  I lined it up with the image on the right side.  This gave me a wider pattern.  I did the same thing with the bottom edge.  As I gradually pieced it together the size of my tile grew.

I have looked for asian textures and oriental textures, never thought about patterns.
Anyway, I was not able to get what I was looking for.All I have found are...patterns.I have made other variations on that search term, but still nothing.
I will keep searching.

You may want to check out Dover Publications.  They have a ton of books with designs and clip art and many come with CD-ROM that make it easy to incorperate some of the designs into your projects.  I've pick up up a few books from my local Barnes and Noble that have images similar to what your describing.
