Photoshop comes with Image Ready. Open Photoshop then in the tool bar right at the bottom, click on Edit in Image Ready. If you have all your images in one folder you can import them all into Image Ready as frames (click on File - Import - folders as frames). Once finished you can saved as animated GIF.
Quote - Didn't they incorporate Image Ready into Photoshop in the CS3 version? If you have CS3 the method is probably similar to be done right in Photoshop. I may be wrong.
According to one book I read, ImageReady has been discontinued, and some of its functions are in Photoshop. For rollovers and image maps you need to install Fireworks.

On my free time I was thinking about making model then animating it to a gif or something.
TIF, TARGA and JPEG formats all render to seperate image files. I'm sure photoshop has some way of putting together some image sequence like this into animation, but its probably not to automated.
I was hoping there is some format or plugin allowing gif animation rendering. So, I can make some animated avatars.
