There are some vampyre characters around, but I don't recall one based on that actor.

That is "Stewart Townsend?" Man! I'm so glad that Peter Jackson had the forsight to axe him before filming of LoTR started and hire Viggo Mortensen for the role of Aragorn! That guy at the top of the forum sure doesn't look like an "Aragorn" to me! :)

I'm not sure, but I think the Buffy movie came out before Interview, so it's unlikely that Hauer was given the part of the big bad because of the Lestat debacle.
It's a curious thing - Anne Rice went on record saying she hated the idea of Tom Cruise as Lestat, and that Hauer had always been the image she had in mind when writing him in the novels. Then she went to the set and saw the filming, and changed her mind, releasing a press release soon after praising Cruise's performance to the hilt. She was also offered a sustantial advance on the film at that point, and was shown some of the projected figures in terms of likely revenue from the film. I wonder if that had any bear on her change of heart? ;)
I'm not sure I see much of Hauer in Spike, other than the white-blonde hair. Spike is consciously modeled more closely on Billy Idol, IIRC. And Hauer only really sported that particular look in Blade Runner - to my mind, whilst he's incredible in that film, it's not his best performance (that would go to the role of John Stryder in The Hitcher).

Oh I'm sure the money had a huge impact on her change of mind.
I used to love reading Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles. And faithfully bought every hardcover as it was released. However, she completely lost my respect at the end.
With the publication of her last 2 vampire novels (Blackwood Farm and Blood Canticle), through his words and eyes, she dissed her readers/fans every chance she got. It really was a disgusting and ungrateful display.
She couldn't take all of the negativity from those who read her words and were completely offended and called her out on it, so she posted a huge reply on Amazon.com. And when it was out and about as to whether that comment was a hoax, she confirmed on her own site that it was absolutely true.
After the death of her husband she returned to religion. Not that there is anything wrong with being religious. I actually admire those who can put such faith into something. However, she is "mean-spirted religious" and condemns anyone who hasn't followed her belief. She shouldn't be calling her fans "gullible" and "fools". That's just wrong!
She didn't have any problem taking our money so that she could buy herself several houses which she sold in the end in order to help purchase this little gem:

Most authors care about not only their writing, but their fans. It seems that money from gullible fools are more important to Anne Rice.

shakes head I stopped reading her books a long time ago. It apparent to me she lost it long before other people caught on I guess. Seriously, she found success late in life, and mentally you start that downward slide after a certain age. And she always been a huge on Jesus, the" Jesus" archetype shows up in her novels over and over again. Why does that surprise anyone? Anyhoo, the books I like the best by her are: The Mummy, The Witching Hour, Interview with the Vampire, Vampire Lestat, and Queen of the Damned. David Geffin cast the movie how he wanted to cast it and Anne Rice couldn't stand it. She was out to sabotage it before the studio sat her down to talk some sense into her. shakes head
Quote - it was clear with 'Tale of the Body Thief' she had no idea where she was taking the writing....
thats when I stopped reading. (other than the promised Ramses book... like that will ever happen!)
Yeah. Tale of the Body Thief was just bad!
I enjoyed "The Mummy - Or Ramses the Damned" and would have liked to see more of that. But unless Ramses has become some religious icon/saint, I don't think that will come about.

If that rant was any example of her writing style I'm glad I never bought any of her books! Good Lord woman! Learn how to use paragraphs to seperate your thoughts! Sheesh!
I really preferred Tom ~ I guess I was alone in that LOL. My favorite of hers was actually Taltos. I agree on the bit about Tale of the Body Thief though - that was pretty unimpressive.
Her rant on Amazon - well that was interesting (Thanks for the link Acadia).
Actually Renderosity has jaded me in this way. I had assumed that any person who creates appreciates criticism because of the people here who so graciously accept it. Whoa was I wrong.
I went to get my hair trimmed recently (by a friend) - she hacked off 6 inches. I said "This is quite a bit shorter than I had wanted, was there a reason?" She said with quite an attitude "It Looks better that way!"
erm......
She was incredibly offended that I had the audacity to question her judgement.
It appears Anne takes criticism quite the same way. Seriously as annoyed with Rendo as some people get, the artists here may very well be the only tolerable ones on the planet.

Here is her confirmation that it was in fact her posting at Amazon.

Apparently she posted more than that one I linked to, because elsewhere on her website she talks about rebuttles posted by her along with many other posts by other reviewers having been deleted from Amazon, by Amazon. I guess it turned rather heated.
Glad they left her initial post up though!
