Subject: Help With WW2

Acadia ( ) posted Sat, 15 December 2007 at 8:25 PM · edited Tue, 26 November 2024 at 10:06 AM

http://www.philc.net/WW2_help.htm

I have read the help page at the above link and I have no clue how to work this new version!

With the original WW all I did was load a figure IE: Aiko. Load an item of clothing IE: dress, and then press "Convert From' and WW did it's thing.

I can't even figure out how to do that with WW2.

I clicked "Convert" and I get a large window open asking me to pick a "source." but it looks like I have to browse through multiple layers of  folders in my runtimes  to get to an item of clothing!  I wasn't able to analyze anything that way, so...

I then decided to load Aiko to the scene, add the item of clothing like I did with the original WW. Conform the clothing  as usual. With the dress as the active item in the scene, I  then clicked "Analyze full body morphs" only to get an error message saying that the dress wasn't a supported figure.

I liked the way the original WW worked with my having to add the clothing to the scene and then press one button. I don't like the idea of having to browse around my hard drive looking through layers of folders in my runtimes  for  various .cr2, .pp2 files etc.  I need to see the clothing to know if it's "tight fitting", "loose" etc.

Is there anyway to use WW2 in the same manner as the original?  IE: load Aiko, add clothing I want to analyze and then proceed to have it analyzed without having to dig around hard drive folders looking for files?  Having to dig through folders to locate files is too tedious and time consuming. It was easier  the old way by just accessing the clothing from inside the library in Poser.

Also, can things analyzed in WW be used in WW2? I have so many .dat files from the first WW and I don't relish the idea of having to reanalyze it all again for another version of the program.  Will WW2 recognize the original WW .dat files for the purpose of converting to another figure?

Ugh!  It seems that even through WW2 is in its own folder, that it overwrote the original WW! :(  My Python Button for the original WW now has the same buttons in it as the one I created for the WW2.

Can't I have both versions?

WW2?  Well, we won, they lost.  1945, to be exact.

Hope that helps.

Ohhh, that WW2.  Sorry.

Afraid you can't use WW .dat files with WW2 as they're not compatable.
The analyze full body morphs applies to the figure you are converting to, not the clothing you want to convert. You select the item of clothing (via the Source Clothing box), select the figure you are converting from in the left hand pane, then select the figure(s) you are converting to in the right hand pane, then click Convert. It should merrily whiz away to itself for a while, then after a while it should tell you it's done.

Ok, I can live with that so long as I can still have the original WW on my computer to use them with.  How do I install WW2 so that it doesn't over write the original one like it seems to be doing, despite the wardrobe wizard menu.py files  for each version being in separate places?

I tried moving the WW2  wardrobe wizard menu.py from the "ScriptsMenu" folder to the Wardrobe Wizard 2.0 folder and then readjusting the path in the folder I use for the buttons. Except now instead of  a button for WW1 and WW2  that have buttons for Wardrobe Wizard 2 in them , I now have a button for WW1 and WW2  that have buttons in each  for WW1.

And I have reinstalled WW2 according to the instructions and still can't get back WW2 buttons for WW2!

So you are saying that there is no longer any way to select the clothing item like we did before... from the library folder inside Poser. That we now have to browse to our runtimes and then through layers of folders to get to the .CR2 and .PP2 files?

I don't like that!!  That is so time consuming and tedious.  I want to be able to select the clothing like I was able to before: using the icons in the library from inside Poser, not having to roam around my hard drive looking for each file :(

Is there any way to select the clothing from the library inside Poser like we did with the original WW?

Acadia, what I ended up doing was having the stand alone version of WW2, but keeping WW1 as my plug in version.
Poser wouldn't make me the FBM's WW2 needs to read. (I hope Mr. Smith is reading this!! A FBM button should make an FBM!!!!)
I do the primary conversion (figure to figure) using the stand alone version (keeping all the movement morphs) and then use WW1 to fit the item to the morphed figure. It really doesn't take alot of time.

Thanks :) This thread was turning into a World War II thread, so I bowed out and went over to Phil's site and posted a couple of questions there in the Wardrobe Wizard 2 forum.

http://www.philc.net/forum/viewforum.php?f=4

Hopefully Phil will be able to suggest how to be able to keep both version 1 and version 2 plugins  together and working independently of each other.  Plus help me with the method that clothing items are now selected for analysis.

I absolutely love Wardrobe Wizard but I'm totally freaked at the changes and it's got me all out of sorts :)  I have a hard time adjusting to major changes so I'm a bit flustered at trying to figure out how to use my favourite Poser plugin now.

Actually it's fairly simple to follow once you start playing with it :)
The clothing source is the cr2, or hr2  (or other kind) you want to convert.
Hair comes out fabulously (is that a word?), movement morphs and all.
I haven't installed the update yet, but from what Phil's site says, it looks like he's figured out a way for us to do the morphed characters too.

Acadia
Nobody freaks out more than me when changes like this happen in programs , honestly forget ww1 and learn ww2's way of doing things its easy once you get the idea of how to do things , really if I can do it ANYBODY can do it :)

cheers

you can use both plugins-you have to reinit python between using them. Not sure why??? wierd......

I never got the first one so this one seemed fairly intuitive to me. Currently I've only installed the standalone version, I prefer to use something like this as a seperate entity, but that's just me!! [LOL].

It's difficult to undo knowledge, especially for me when it comes to computer stuff.  It takes me so long to learn anything computer related that when something changes I totally freak!

Going from Poser 5 to 6 was pretty easy because most everything stayed the same and a few things were added to an already familiar interface.  But when the whole interface changes, it becomes a whole new entity that I have to learn all over again and that makes me want to run back to the original version of that program because it's something that I am familiar with :)

**Acadia**: I consider myself fairly lucky in that respect, I pick up software really quickly, it maybe because my work is as an electronic engineer I don't know!! I just posted an image I've done this morning with Aery Souls Fragola outfit for V3 converted to Miki 2 [link attached], I'm just amazed at what it can do and I only got it yesterday so I'm sure I still have lots to learn, in fact I know I do because this was the second conversion as the first one had a problem with it, but that was down to me tickingtoo many boxes [LOL].

I think the most simple to use version of wardrobe wizard would be one with only four buttons:
One which allow you to pick a piece of cloth, shoe or hair or whatever from you runtime, a second which a dropdown list to select your original model, a third which allows you to choose the new model and a startbutton. But I suppose that will require so much artificial intelligence that even Phil and Kamilche are not that far (yet, it's coming close) So in the meantime we have to learn how all the new buttons work, and IMHO it works much easier than Wawi1 once you're used to it.
I think that WaWi2 is really a big  improvement compaired with WaWi1 , which was a good converter already and the last update made it even better. Last weekend I learned that it is also possible for making your own clothes from a model I made, so it even replaces obj2cr2.
I have some remarks, but I wait to comment untill I've tried every aspect of the program, I often complained too soon in the past and I want to avoide that.

Best regards,

Bopperthijs
