Subject: How to do keep a morph on a model?

Gurichi ( ) posted Sun, 23 December 2007 at 11:50 AM · edited Mon, 18 November 2024 at 2:29 AM

Ok, what I would love to know is if there is some way to keep morphs from morph dials and such the same when you click the Edit>Restore>figure button to bring the model back to the defult pose. Do you have to just save a defult morph pose or something and have to apply that every time to restore the figure? Because that would be annoying... (P.s.: I'm using Poser 6, if that matters)

Thanks for any help in advance!

Don't use Edit-Restore.

Use the Joint editor and zero the model that way.

Usually, the default pose is not the same as the zero pose. If that matters to you, save your starting point in a pose dot.

If you set the morphs and do edit memorise figure, when you do restore the figure will go back to your morphed version.

That's what that does? Well thank you for telling me! I think that will work nicely!~ :)

I am going to disagree with everyone on this point . :tt2:

To restore your figure to the default pose, without changing any morphs, put your figure in the default pose, save a pose to the pose pallet, saying "No" to the "Include morph channels in pose set?" option. You can now use this pose to reset your figure to the default pose without changing any morphs.

Megalomania (or why I'm right and everyone else is wrong): :thumbupboth:

If you save a defult morph pose and apply that every time you Rerstore>Figure. You would have to make a new morph pose every time you changed the figures expression. With my method you only need one pose file no matter how the figure has been morphed.

As Bob said, if you use "Zero Figure" in the joint editor the result won't usually be the same as the default pose.

On the other hand, if you use Bob's method of saving a Pose Dot, it will include morph settings, and thus restore the default (zero) morph settings as well as the default pose.

Xantor's method is fine untill you change a morph value, then you have the problem that Restore>Figure restores the old morphs, instead of preserving the chainges you made.

If you change a morph value and like it, then you can use memorise figure again to keep the newer setting.

True, Les - I should have been clearer. I meant to say "starting pose including your character morphs". And that's why I'm still right.

@ xantor,

Quote: "If you change a morph value and like it, then you can use memorise figure again to keep the newer setting."

Yes, but if you Memorize>Figure, you will also memorize the pose, and if you have already posed the figure, that's not what you want. So you need some way to restore the default pose before you memorize the figure (eg my way), but if you have a way to restore the pose then you don't need to re-memorize the figure, because all you wanted in the first place was to restore the pose!

@ EnglishBob,

Bob, say you save your Pose Dot, pose your character, play with your scene a bit, then decide that you want your character to wink her left eye and have a broader smile, and whilst you are at it why not give her bigger breasts, come on don't be stingy spin those breast dials, go for the Guinnes Book of records. You make these changes, you decide you like the wink and smile, and OH MAN you really like those meallons 🤤[I like tiny tits myself]. So now you decide you want to keep the morphs but restore the default pose. So you apply your Pose Dot...Wait a minuit, you can't do that, that would whipe out the new morph settings. :crying:

It's ok Bob, don't panic, I have a default pose for that figure, IM me your email adress and I'll send it to you!

P.S. Merry Christmass all!

If you change the morph and want to memorise the figure again, in the joint editor you can click on zero figure, it should restore the default pose without affecting the morphs (it works that way in propack I have not tested it in newer versions) then you can memorise the figure to save the morph settings without saving the pose as well.

Merry christmas.
