I am Alice, the newbie to this forum.. ;0)

I have been doing some photography for less then a year.. I still have a lot to learn..
1 is the camera settings.. 

I finally figured out what type of photographer I am.. 
that is close up.. detail..
I do not have a good eye for landscape..

My husband who has so much faith in me bought me a lens EF400mm F5.6L
Took it for a test drive at the zoo today.. awesome..
Still again lots to learn..
the white looks purple, this and that.. not crisp.. blah blah.. (picky stuff)... 
So I hope that I can join this group to learn more about becoming a better photographer.

well I got one up.. forgot only one per day.. 

Details of the shot would be useful... the main ones to consider are:

Aperture
Shutter Speed
ISO
Focal Length (ie what lens?)

This image looks like it might either be slightly missed focus or just some motion blur either from the wolf moving or your hand shaking the camera.

If it is the former then you might need to check your autofocus - or if you were manually focused check the eyepiece is giving you the right focus - read the camera manual to see how to adjust the diopeter values on the eyepiece.  If it is the latter then look into trying to increase the speed of the shutter... the guideline figure is 1/focal length - so if you were using the 400mm you need at least 1/400 seconds to get a sharp shot (and i would think a bit more than that anyway - around the 1/500-1/800 should be fine).  Or you may want to consider using a tripod or some other type of support for the camera if you werent...

Alice, I visited your gallery. If you become as adept with photography as you now are with 2D and 3D, you should do well.   So much is up to your personal eye.  Good photographers here will help sort out the details when possible.  

Alice, the sort of information which will help others is the EXIF file.  The official name of this is 
Exchangeable image file format but I think of it as "exposure information".

Yoiu might know all of this already..but I will post for anyone who does not.  You get this info from the camera display if the menu is set to allow showing exposure info.  In PSP(at least in version 8) go to Image>Image Info. In the box click the EXIF tab.

In Photoshop, right click the title bar at the top of the image window and then "camerea data" from the box that opens.

The Exif will show exposure info such as shutter speed, aperture, flash or no flash, mm of lens when shot was taken, etc.   You might also to include how far you were from the subject when the shutter was pushed.

You may need to open the original image file to get the info. Some saved files will loose the data.  Of course, we work a duiplicate or copy and not the original in editing but the original will surely have the Exif intact.

Welcome Alice,

Try shotting in RAW (if you have it) and change you're white balance afterwards. Or get an 18% grey card to tune your white balance to the light conditions and then shoot in JPG on custom white balance.
